We’ve been waiting to post this deck/pergola/fence combo until it was finished. It’s so large it was hard to even take full pictures of and it was all wrapped up from start to finish in 4 working days. We had so much fun building this custom piece for our client. Everything is in brown pressure treated Micropro Sienna which is a great budget saver. All materials were purchased from Tony at LBH Timber Martin St Albert. All the posts for the pergola are 6x6 , cut perfectly to fit and fixed in place with grks. Stay tuned for next week, we have another large deck pergola in this style but in composite and fir - we can’t wait!

Over 200ft of double clad cedar fence installed in St Albert 👍🏻 It looks gorgeous 😍 Thank you so much San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division for helping us out by delivering on a holiday, you guys are the best! The old fence was falling to pieces and easily had it tore out within a few hours. The biggest pain was prepping the new holes with all the roots everywhere but we got it done. The clients were so wonderful to work with as well as the neighbors, we’ll be back within a week(ish) to build a small backyard deck in one corner all in cedar as well as a small front deck for the neighbor (in cedar) - they love it that much ❤️ we would have been done much earlier if it wasn’t for the weather but there is no controlling that.

First job of the season and it’s a gooder! Our clients wanted to make the most of their backyard with a huge cedar deck, cedar gazebo, fence and custom made planters. We started this on Monday and it’s finally all coming together. Andre and I were so excited with this project we even had Oil City Signs make us some last minute signs for the fence facing the road. All the cedar is from our good friends San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division . All brown pressure treated Micropro Sienna as well as the aluminum railing in textured black from our hero Tony at LBH Timbermart in St.Albert . It’s been great to get back on the tools full time and my goodness are we sore 😆 We’ll keep you all updated with progress pictures as we go along - stay safe out there!

April is dedicated to Autism Awareness. This year we are dedicating it to all children, youth and adults with special needs. During these times they need more patience and understanding than ever before. Many, like my son Damien who is non verbal on the spectrum due to Fragile X, do not comprehend what is going on in the world today. They do not understand social distancing, frequent hand washing & hygiene, school closures and loss of their daily routine that they thrive on. For most their therapies and programs have been put on hold. There are parents that can not afford the extra care so that they can go shopping or travel alone and will have their child in tow. Please be understanding and patient with them during these times, we’re all in this together ❤️

Basement bathroom with steam shower is finally complete now that the custom cut glass and mirror has been installed by Handyman Unlimited - they did a stellar job and looks beautiful 😍 A huge thank you to Iron River Surfaces for supplying us with the tiles, quartz countertop as well as lining up the glass and mirror 👍🏻 The quartz countertop looks eye catching on the custom vanity (and cabinet) from TSN it was such a breeze dealing with them from start to finish and will always be our first choice for all future jobs. A favorite is the bulkhead, it’s subtle but adds so much character to the room. We even took the in floor heating for a test drive and it passed the test. We are so envious of our clients! All basement bathrooms should be like this 👌🏻 The steam shower is going to come in handy with the few cold days we have ahead of us. Even the cat approves 😁

New basement with rustic fir and live edge bar, bathroom and living area all in time for Christmas! In 2.5 weeks we managed to create a new living/entertaining space for our clients and they LOVE it. Cabinets in the bathroom and stainless steel with butcher block are from ikea but the rustic bar was custome made from hand picked 1”fir from Superior Lumber as well as the live edge which were sanded down and custom stained. Thank you to Tony and Marcel at LBH Timber Mart in St Albert for the Sandrift ceiling times, doors and baseboards. carpet was supplied and installed by Ironriver Surfaces and a big thank you to Mike for tackling mudding and taping in the stairs to speed things up. The support beam cladded in fir goes perfectly with the bar, It made a big impact in this smaller space. Also want to say thanks to Samantha for helping with the final painting so we could wrap it up today 👍🏻

What to do with an exposed support beam? Clad it out! Here’s a quick peak at the basement we are working on. The client didn’t know what to do with this beam and drywall can get boring so we cladded it in some gorgeous clear weathered 1” rough fir from Superior Lumber, the wall color (thunderstorm) from Sherwin Williams really makes it pop. It’s going to fit perfectly with the rustic farmhouse bar that will be decked out in the same fir boards. Superior even hooked us up with a nice slab of live edge that will be custom cut for the two tiered bar. It’s going to be an exciting few days while we finish up this project. Still so many things to do 👍🏻

Currently working on a new basement just in time to be ready for Christmas 🎅🏻 Finishing a basement is a great way to add more value to your home as well as adding much needed extra space. We’ll be adding a new 2 piece bathroom, storage rooms, an open common area and best of all a new wet bar 🍺 with a rustic finish.

Front walkway and side deck. This was a fun one. The old cedar clad walkway and 40yr old cedar deck that was sinking worse than the titanic were removed and rebuilt in brown Micropro Sienna Pressure treated boards. The client wanted to keep with the original style with just a bit of an update for when she puts it on the market. We enjoyed the simplicity of this design after all the work that went into our last job (the grand curved wonder). Thank you to Tony LBH Timber Mart For ‘delivering’ 😉 the material for our last deck of the season 😢 yes, it’s getting to be that time of year again.

We can’t wait to see what next spring brings us. Don’t forget, we do book in advance otherwise once the snow melts it’s first come, first served! .

Final outdoor project for the season 😢 The backyard and deck on this new infill home were upgraded with new glass & aluminum probuilt railing in textured black, cedar privacy fences on both sides and a new fence in brown pressure treated Micropro Sienna to close everything up. Thank you so much to Salisbury Landscaping for passing this client on to us - the landscaping is perfect as always, to San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division for your awesome cedar and to Tony at LBH timbermart St Albert for supplying the fence material and railing. You’ve all been so amazing to work with this summer ❤️

Bayou City Lumber - this could easily become my new favorite home away from home 😍 The materials they stock are AMAZING and the people working there just the icing on the cake. We stopped by here to check put the fiberon roadshow and ended talking up a storm with the great guys who work here. Andre and I toured around the yard and got a glimpse into what goes into construction down here. I had never seen pressure treated fir until now and I am loving it 👍🏻 the only place that comes close back home is Superior Lumber . Bayou City Lumber truly is a gem of a place.

Yes, we are still alive and enjoying the great state of Texas 🇺🇸 This morning we headed on over to Houston to check out the fiberon roadshow trailer 👍🏻 Andre and I had a great time talking to everyone and checking out Bayou City Lumber. Big thanks to Jeremy Stoll for the invite while we were still in Alberta and to Ryan Phillips (fiberon regional manager), and to Chris Abel (Weyerhaeuser). It was a pleasure meeting you all 😀 .

The countdown is on! We’ll be heading down to the great state of Texas later this month to check this out - we ❤️ fiberon! And it’s a fun way to celebrate my 40th 🎉

*Daly’s Drug Store* Fort Edmonton Park siding repair finished just in time for the snow to start falling ☃️ let’s hope it doesn’t stay around very long! All four dormers as well as the backside of the front wall had damage and missing pieces so we had the board recreated just for us by 🌲 San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division in all cedar (great job guys👍🏻) then primed and painted in a white oil based paint from Sherwin-Williams . I prefer oil based when treating exteriors as well as any wood. It is more durable and doesn’t let tannins come through the paint. Nothing worse than a bright white board with ‘coffee stains’ coming through. We tried to save as much of the original wood as possible but had to replace some around the dormer windows. It looks bright white now but by the time spring hits it should be blended in nicely with the construction zone going on out there. So muddy.

The deck is complete and the Englands can finally enjoy it for years to come and maybe throw a party or two 😉 This one was a bit of a challenge with the curves, bending boards and even throwing a few of the fascia in their pond to make the flexible. Between the 4 of us we were able to come up with some pretty cool ideas. Childproof lids on the lower deck to gain access to the tanks below, extra wide wrap around steps for extra seating and eliminating handrails, a small bench around the cedar tree and a “house” for the gas meter so no one has to look at that icky thing. We even hauled out some of the leftover siding from last year when we built the addition to make sure the gas house matched. All that is left now is for Salisbury Landscaping to put in a stone landing in front of the house so that the skirting can go in. I wonder what John & Catherine are going to think of building next while they are on their next arctic adventure?

Ongoing fence project in Inglewood. 3 infill lots, 2 fence lines and 3 different landscapers! It’s been quite the collaboration so far but coming along smoothly. Salisbury brought this client to us (middle infill owner) who got together with their neighbors and came up with the fence design and one of the best ideas yet - shared common areas between the houses 🥰 instead of wasting the space with a skinny walkway and taking away light from the window wells they decided to not have a fence in that area.

Once Salisbury has finished the landscaping we will be installing a large shared gate in front on each side of the middle home for security and seperate gates to each three yards at the end for privacy. It’s great when neighbors can come together like this❤️ The new common areas can be used for storage (bikes) as well instead of taking up valuable space in the garage. We even left out a few fence posts in the end so that the landscapers could get in with their machines. With landscaping complete we’ll be back with our new helper/go to girl, Mel. It’s great having another girl on the team.

Material was supplied by Tony🐯 at LBH Timber Mart in St Albert. The fence is all Micropro Sienna 6x6 posts, horizontally clad 5/4x6 deck boards, 2x4 screwed in mid panel with a 2x8 top plate. 1x6 fence boards will be screwed onto the posts to cover the fence board seams. This fence is going nowhere! Stay tune for the final pictures 🌟

309ft of fence removed and reinstalled at The Glens in St.Albert for our buddy Ben at Maplenail Construction. He provided us all the material from Lowes and we brought the muscle 💪🏻 It gave us a chance to dust off the stihl and put her to work cutting out the old rotten fence panels. With the help of our Newfie pal ‘Slim’ and an extra trailer from Armin ANRC we were able to have everything completely tore out in 1 day. All 40 holes were drilled by Bearbones. Instead of regular fence boards, 5/4x6 pressure treated deck boards were used. 2x6 stringers/coverboards, 4x6 posts and topped with another fence board to cap it all off. If it wasn’t for a few hiccups ie: rain, wind, truck break in 😠 this job would have taken 3 days instead of 6. At least it turned out great and everyone is happy 👍🏻

Deck/fence combo complete 🌟 except for stairs which will be completed once grading and concrete walkway are installed, a temporary ramp was put in place until then. Skirting will also be put in afterwards. This makes it so much easier for the landscapers and ensures proper height stairs plus no damage from machinery. The frame is Micropro Sienna brown pressure treated wood and the decking/fascia is Fiberon Paramount pvc in Mineral with cortex screw and matching plugs. Probuilt textured black aluminum handrail with wide pickets compliment the house perfectly ❤️ A big thanks to Tony LBH Timber Mart for supplying all the material for this project - deck & fence, and to Salisbury Landscaping for passing on these, and other, awesome clients to us 👍🏻 I can’t wait to see everything you have planned for the landscaping when we come back to build the pergola!

Fiberon Composite Decking

The past few days we’ve been working on a new brown pressure treated Micropro Sienna
fence split between 3 neighbors, the middle being a new infill home....what a journey this has been! Panelling between mature bushes/trees, raspberry patch etc (my specialty 😖, Andre would sawzall them down if given the chance 😂), properly locating lines, collapsing holes, rain, elevations, hammer drilling concrete - you name it!

Thank goodness we threw in our helper who loves to dig, I wish I had that kid’s stamina. Both sides had retaining walls added between the posts to allow for proper grading. We even found an old buried concrete sidewalk beside the neighbor’s house! Every day was something new. Now that it’s finished we will be starting on the new Fiberon Paramount PVC deck tomorrow. Big thanks to Salisbury Landscaping for passing on this client onto us, she’s been great to work with 👍🏻 The overgrown bushes.....not so much 😆

This is always the best part of any job, when you are presented with a special treasure chest full of goodies! Our client’s daughter -🧚🏻‍♂️ the little girl in the house 🧚🏻‍♀️presented us with this treasure trove of candies and a thoughtful note as well. Andre snatched the Haribo gummie bears right away haha i hope this weather clears up so that she and her brother can start having some fun on the deck. The little guy sure seemed to, the ‘monkey’ started climbing the privacy fences.......ahhhh gotta love little boys!

A fun new composite deck just wrapped up today with cedar privacy fences galore and a new bar ledge to hide the ugly window well. Our client’s house is across from a large condo building so blocking off some views were a must while she entertains her friends and family outside - if it ever stops raining! She came up with a pretty cool layout with the screens creating different areas on the deck as well as multiple angles on the corners. It turned out beautiful. The cedar from our friends at 🌲San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division impressed us yet again, their stock is always top notch as well as the service 👍🏻. The composite boards are Fiberon Composite Decking Goodlife in Beach House & Cottage, supplied to us by 🐯Tony LBH Timbertmart (St Albert) as well as all the Micropro Sienna brown pressure treated materials for the decking. Next on the list is a new fence with deck for a brand new infill home passed on to us from Salisbury Landscaping 🌺

New cedar deck with privacy fence ready just in time for the long weekend ☀️ Our clients are excited with their new outdoor addition, it turned out perfect! We had planned on removing the old ledger board and installing new siding but we found out that they were glued together 😱 so this issue is being addressed with the homebuilder. A huge shoutout to our friends at 🌲San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division for supplying ALL of the cedar and then some for this project. Not only do they have amazing products but the customer service is top notch . The frame is all in brown pressure treated wood with textured black aluminum probuilt railing supplied by Tony at LBH Timbermart in St Albert - if you need decking materials he is the man to go to ⭐️ The 1x6 fascia boards on the privacy fence and skirting have both smooth and rough sides to give extra depth and contrast, a coat of stain will really bring them to life.

Deck replacement in Summerside, maybe we’ll get a little bit of sun now for the clients to enjoy it! We tore down the exisiting pressure treated deck which was already showing some fairly decent rot in, well, EVERYTHING. The ledger board as you can see was already rotting thru due to poor install. Screws had gone thru all of the drip edge along the ledger and let water seep thru over the years, not good at all. After the original deck was torn down new 15ft screw piles from Torison were installed and we could begin our work 👍🏻 The frame is all brown pressure treated with proper 6x6 posts. The clients chose Fiberon Paramount pvc decking in mineral/flagstone which complimented the house perfectly! The black textured aluminum handrail looks 100xs better than the old wooden system. Our Saviour 🤖 Tony at LBH Timbermart in St Albert was able to supply us short notice with all the materials needed. The clients had originally ordered cedar decking but opted last minute for fiberon. We are glad they did so now more time can be spent relaxing on the deck or chasing after their grandkids.

⭐️New pvc with cedar privacy fence and bbq area complete, just in time to enjoy the summer⭐️ All decking boards are Fiberon Paramount pvc in Brownstone with Clubhouse fascia in Walnut. The original fiberon fascia boards in Sand were too orange for the client’s liking and preferred the look of the Walnut which ties it all together beautifully. Double picture frame with cortex screws & color coded plugs - always an adventure matching them up 😖The cedar privacy really kicks it up a notch and gives some much needed division between the property and the public walking path next door. This layout is much more family friendly than the last and gives more room for entertaining. Big thanks to our man Tony at LBH timbermart in St Albert for all the decking materials and to San Cedar Direct -Edmonton Division & Mclean Lumber for the cedar.
