The Boy Who Walked Backwards written by Ben Sures and illustrated by Nicole Marie Burton

A young Ojibway boy named Leo Day comes home from residential school over the Christmas break. Not wanting to return to a place that took him from his family and culture, he uses the game "ngiigazoo", Ojibway for hide-and-seek, to inspire his escape.

Recommended for ages 4 to 8.

Based on the true story told by the father of a friend of the author and Ben Sures has also written a song called The Boy Who Walked Backwards that follows the same story as the book.

The Boy Who Walked Backwards is available to check out at the Brandon Public Library downtown.
