We were delighted to welcome back Dr. Thien Huynh, Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Florida, as guest speaker for the inaugural Dr. William Maloney Lectureship.
Dr. Hyunh presented Grand Rounds entitled "The New Frontier in Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension: Emerging Role of Dynamic CT Myelography and Transvenous Embolization" and clued up the morning with resident teaching cases.
A HUGE kudos to Ms. Melissa MacLeod, this year's recipient of the Dalhousie PGME Program Administrator Award of Excellence!
She received this prestigious award at the recent PD/PA Education Day hosted by Dalhousie PGME on February 23rd, 2024. As an integral part of the Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine programs, Melissa demonstrates her passion and commitment to education through every interaction. From earning her Master of Education, contributing to medical education through projects and being the 'mom' to our residents, no one is more deserving of this award. Congratulations Melissa!

New Dal‑trained doctor wins top prize in global startup competition Hollo Medical co-founder David Hodgson's victory brings added recognition to the startup's key innovation — a unique pocket-size asthma inhaler chamber — and provides a huge boost to the company's goal of making it accessible as quickly as possible.
This past week, we held our annual research day, thanks to the excellent researchers and researchers-in-training who presented their work. Congrats to all our presenters and award winners (pictured). Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Forster
who we were delighted to have had as our Dr. J. E. Campbell guest lecturer. Dr. Forster opened the day sharing his experiences as a radiologist in Tokyo 2020 followed by resident teaching and closed with insights toward choosing wisely in medical imaging. Thank you for joining us!

In advance of ARC 2022, we've been delighted to have a couple guest speakers in our department.
Yesterday, Dr. Harry Bardgett from Bradford Teaching Hospitals presented grand rounds entitled "Radiology MR-USS cognitive fusion LATP service - the Bradford Experience (West Yorkshire not West Gwilimbury)," providing an overview of their local experience with prostate cancer diagnosis, followed by a GU-focused resident teaching session. If you missed grand rounds, check out the recording.
Today, Dr. Rebecca Hibbert from uOttawa joined our resident group (in person this time!) for an approach to liver lesions teaching session with an overview of helpful differentials and a variety of cases for all PGY levels.
We look forward to hearing their ARC sessions along with those of our local experts over the weekend.

Our Resident of the Month award aims to improve resident well-being by recognizing and rewarding resident colleagues with exceptional achievements while maintaining a work-life balance. "Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Canadian Radiology: Is there a problem?"
Dr. Charlotte Yong-Hing is a Diagnostic Radiologist, Medical Director of Breast Imaging at BC Cancer, Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, President-Elect of the BC Radiological Society and President-Elect of the Canadian Society of Breast Imaging. She is an advocate for inclusivity and diversity in radiology. She founded Canadian Radiology Women, a community of female radiologists and radiologists-in-training, to foster community, mentorship, leadership, and diversity to improve patient care. Dr. Yong-Hing has worked with provincial and national leaders to formalize a national strategy to encourage and support diversity in radiology. She has helped create a national community of women radiologists. Her research has brought the radiology gender gap to light and has provided practical strategies for associations and departments to implement in order to improve diversity and, ultimately, improve the lives of patients across the country.
