Abstract art in oil and cold wax on gallery cradled wood.
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything new here…
New work, mixed media and photography. Fun with layering.

"I know this sounds crazy but if we base some of our decisions upon how we are actually feeling instead of what we are seeing, especially in the beginning, the work will change and evolve quite differently and more unexpectedly. Surprise, chance and spontaneity awaken us. Habitual thinking and excessively figuring out what we should do next, leads to self consciousness which eventually leads to boredom not just for you but the viewer as well. Try to stay really engaged with how the area you are working on is making you feel, not necessarily how it looks."

Work in progress. gotta get these done before the fall and shorter days set in. Wishing summer would last forever. oil and cold wax mixed media on wood.

By the fence, near the studio are these yellow flowers…wild I think, they are a great reminder to keep smiling. I am trying to let some parts of my property go wild so I get a mix of everything and a few surprises. I kinda like wild and free, less work, less of me wanting to ‘control’ nature. Also, I‘ve become a lazy weeder. I’d much rather be spending time painting than pulling weeds it seems or just sitting outside melting in colour and sunshine. One inspired the other here.
It’s great after a week of being away to get back to work in my studio. Working on 3 or should say 6. I have one 3ft x 3ft that has a few collage pieces to start. The 3x3 is screaming yellow, orange and turquoise. Big, bold and full of energy, I’m working out the details on procreate now on that one.
Oil and cold wax on 12x12 abstract, $300.00 on artist panel ( not framed ). The price for framed will be slightly higher. Framed does make a difference it seems. Needs 2-3 wks to fully set, this heat takes longer now for things to cure.
The other image is how the artwork could look in a frame on a wall.
Oil and cold wax abstract art. Crazy Dreams…
Working on 3 new pieces, oil and cold wax abstract. Inspired by nature.
Just saw this quote this morning. So often we try too hard or want to create art that others would like or purchase rather than creating what comes from within. We have to be willing to take risks and be in uncertainty.
“If I’m going to do something that could be provocative or artistically relevant, I have to be prepared to put myself in a place where I feel unsafe, not completely in control. I have no fear of failure whatsoever, because often out of that uncertainty something is salvaged, something that is worthwhile comes about. There is no progress without failure, and each failure is a lesson learned. Unnecessary failures are the ones where an artist tries to second guess an audience’s taste, and little comes out of that situation except a kind of inward humiliation.”

True story. :)

Van Gogh loved the countryside. In a letter to his brother Theo, he wrote: ‘I’ve painted another three large canvases. They’re immense stretches of wheatfields under turbulent skies. You’ll see this soon, I hope – for I hope to bring them to you in Paris as soon as possible, since I’d almost believe that these canvases will tell you what I can’t say in words, what I consider healthy and fortifying about the countryside’.
