Just a little update to my clients and general followers on how pregnant I am these days 🤯
I miss work! I’m enjoying this time as much as I can before he’s here on the outside, which could be any day now!

I’m officially on maternity leave!
My baby is coming in a few short weeks, I’m beyond excited but part of me still feels so guilty for leaving all of my clients behind for a year.
I’ll be back! And I’ll try to post some archived hair content every now and then.

Time for a little health break ⏳

As I think a lot of my clients know so far, I’m having my first baby! And he’s a boy 💙

My due date is June 5th and my last day of work will be April 17th so I can get a few weeks to myself before my life changes. And so I won’t have to rest my belly on your shoulders while I cut your hair 😅
•
Make sure you get in to see me before April 17th and I can help you arrange your future appointments while I’m off! I will be taking a full year 💙

I probably don’t need to, but I want to share some random thoughts I have about the hair industry.
Feel no obligation to read it all 😚

I never understood hairstylists who say things like “that’s not the way I would have done it” because guess what.. there’s about 15 different ways I could drive to work, but in the end, I’m still going to end up there.
Same goes for hair, every stylist does things differently because we’re all different people.
If the end result is the same, who cares how you get there?

There’s ALWAYS going to be enough clients for everyone. Don’t worry about who’s sitting in who’s chair, we don’t own our clients.
•
I don’t judge clients based on tips, whether it’s big, small, or nothing. Especially with the economy in Nova Scotia as bad as it is.
Obviously tips are EXTREMELY appreciated and never go unnoticed! But to me, I’m just thankful if you’re coming back to see me!!!
All stylists have different opinions on this, and that’s fine. Mines stayed the same since I started.

Prices are different for everyone, for many reasons.
If you have experience and accomplishments, raise your price!
Know your worth, and know your demographic.
I can give my clients a solid breakdown of price if they ever ask, but they don’t.
I’ve never had any major problems with pricing and clients, ONLY from other stylists talking sh*t. Funny! 😆

At the end of the day, I know my prices are very reasonable for a high end salon and the background I have, compared to any other city in Canada.

Advice for anyone thinking about becoming a hairstylist, ONLY do it if you have a long term plan. Doing it because school is quick and inexpensive will have you regretting everything.
The first 3-5 years are the HARDEST! And you rarely will make money right away. It’s a job you need passion for, or else you’ll be burnt out quickly!

⚠️ This post is a bit different but I wanted to share on this page in hopes of reaching lots of people.

As a lot of my clients already know, my mom has been suffering with two extremely rare and very complex diseases for over two years now, Scleroderma, which effects your skin or your organs and in her case it’s trying to shut down her organs. She also has Pulmonary Hypertension so her heart doesn’t work nearly as well as it should. There are many other complications that come with these, she’s pretty much one in a million case.
•
Things took a turn for the worse while she had two nurses from Toronto staying with her this week in CB and they told her she needs to go to the QE11 immediately to speed up the process of a surgery that will run medication to her heart 24/7.
•
She is currently in the hospital as of last night, hopefully getting her surgery soon. She is the most giving and selfless person I know, she’s fostered children before and ran a home daycare for years, quit to start a campground with my dad and got sick before she could start any of it.
•
My dad works extremely hard at work and at home for my mom. They have to make many trips back and forth from CB and we’re not sure how long my mom will be at the QE11.
