Great news! My bill to ensure Canada's fresh fruit and vegetable growers are paid for the food they grow has made it through Committee, and is one step closer to becoming law. Today, myself and a number of colleagues met with Corey Shelson, a Keswick native and former Military Engineer Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, and heard an on-the-ground account of what’s happening in Afghanistan from one of many Afghan-Canadian Interpreters who are faced with a real and imminent threat from the Taliban. Their lives and the lives of their families are at risk. I will continue to work with my colleagues and dedicated advocacy groups to urge the Government of Canada to act now and ensure their safety by evacuating them.
