The world lost a goddamn legend in broadcasting, as we sadly say goodbye to Dan Carson… I feel lucky I was able to not only work closely with him in my beginning stages in radio, at Country 105 : Calgary's Country, but hanging out with him, usually at our house in Marda Loop, sometimes at his apartment downtown, about 15 years ago. I’ll never forget the chats and picking his brain, shooting the s**t and loving/hating on radio… something I am deeply saddened I know I will never get to do again.

Hilarious doesn’t begin to describe him, and along with his partners in crime, Robyn Adair & Doug Veronelly who ruled the Calgary Morning show during their era, infamously known as the Odd Squad, I feel blessed to have had each of them as major influences in the start of my radio career, even opping their show or doing stampede cut ins live with them…

could never be duplicated, and had a certain magic about them that truly shined. My favourite on air. Dan Carson moment was when Doug and Robyn were talking about an event and the date and other info, and he was talking out loud, putting it all together and they mocked him saying “oh, look at him putting it all together”, as he deadpans without missing a beat “wait till I get out the puzzle… “ it might sound like a “had to be there” moment, but it was one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever heard and I’ll never forget it, or his sarcastic ways, or the impression he made on me, so long ago.

You’ll be missed, old friend… 💔💔💔
