Here is a little story to make your day.
Darren Smith and the Lottery Ticket
Darren Smith lived in the rich people area. He lived where there are huge three story houses with three garages and lots of windows. Except Darren doesn’t live in the three story houses, he lives in a ditch near the houses. Darren Smith has been a homeless man for about a year now. The house owners didn’t know he lived in the ditch because Darren made sure nobody knew. Darren was sitting in his ditch worrying about winter. “Dang it, I got a hole in my shirt.” said Darren. He only had two pairs of clothes. “It’s beautiful today! We should go outside.” A woman inside the house next to the ditch said. “I got to go” said Darren. He rushed out through his secret shortcut to the streets. He ended up on a very busy road. Darren sat down against a lamppost on the sidewalk. Lots of cars were passing. Darren looked ahead and saw a nickel. “Well it’s my lucky day” He went to go pick up the nickel. His stomach grumbled. “Man am I hungry. I should get something to eat.” Darren always went to eat at a local homeless shelter that was going to be torn down next month. As he got up and started walking, he noticed something that looked like a piece of paper fly out of one of the passing cars. He stopped and picked it up. It was a lottery ticket. “Hmm. I guess this is mine now since the owner is long gone. He reached in his pocket for his pen. It was one of the last things he had from before he was homeless. He signed the paper and the thought “I just found A nickel I can use. How convenient!” He reached for the coin in the same pocket. “So I just have to scratch 3 dollar signs and I win one hundred million dollars. Sound simple enough.” He scratched the first sign, it was a dollar sign. Then the second, another dollar sign. Then the third, three dollar signs. “Oh my god, I need to go redeem this right away.” Darren was so excited. He ran to the grocery store and found the lottery place. It was quiet. He found a teenage girl at the counter. “Excuse me, I would like to redeem
