A little sneak peak into one of our greenhouses
Anyone else love the way a sunstressed hoya looks?
This varigated hoya compacta hangs directly below our grow light. The newest leaves are showing this beautiful pink.
Plants really have a way to addapt to their surroundings.
Does anyone else start their redecorating plans around plants?
It can't be just us π€£
We're loving the vibrant pinks this gorgeous Stromanthe Triostar is giving us. Stromanthe are both Pet and People friendly and a great choice for beginners.

Happy Love Day!!
β€οΈπ§‘πππππ€π€π€
We believe in nurturing the people, animals and passions we love. The last couple years our celebrations may have never less flashy, but more intimate. You may not be sharing the day with a loved one, but doing something solo that you enjoy. No matter how you spend today we hope you day is full of love.
Love Amanda & Jen of Pot and Stem
Hoyas can 'tell' you they are thirsty.
When the leaves get wrinkly like this it's time for a drink. They don't like to have wet feet. So wait until you see the sign and give them a good soak.
Calathea Musaica - network
Foliage so detailed it doesn't even look real! These calatheas are hardy. If you've been done dirty by calatheas in the past, but love their flashy ways. The Musaica may be it for you.
Plants always surprise me.

Scindapsus Pictus Exotica
Often mislabeled as a pothos. Probably due to its trailing nature. Such a stunning plant. The silver markings on deep green leaves really set this one apart.
We will have 6 of these available on our website launch this Sunday.
Mama gloriosum
I know you've been drooling over the philodendron gloriosum offered in our giveaway. So here is some more eye candy while we work on growing our numbers.
One of our mini prop boxes. A little sneak peek of things to come over here with pot and stem.
In the plant world names can be confusing. Scientific names, common names, slang...names for the mature or sport variations of the same plant.
This is a highly varigated Manjula pothos. Which can sometimes be found under the name Harlequin pothos. Still a Manjula just heavy on the white varigation.
Don't let the mass of names scare you away from jumping into the world of plants. There is always Google to listen to pronunciations π
Tillandsia caput medusae - a variety of air plant
These lovelies require are as low maintenance as they come. You don't even need soil!
Tillandsia absorb water and nutrients through their leaves. Loving warm humidy environments. Considering how dry our homes can be in the winter, you may need to relocate then into a greenhouse cabinet or cloche to increase humidity. This one has been doing great in room temp and humidity.
π We will have some of these available during our Valentine's Day drop
We just added some white princesses to the royal family.
We can't decide if we like the half moon or the marbled leaves better. Which do you prefer?
It's Chop and Prop time for Pot and Stem! πͺπͺβοΈ
We always start by using clean, sharp blades to ensure the least amount of trauma to our plants. This also helps to protect the fresh cut from added bacteria as it calluses.
Check out this lovely fresh cut on one of our Mamei Philodendrons and the same cut 5 hours later.

Here at Pot and Stem we love our resident pets. Here is Atlas approving some new stock and our sweet Maze and Minotaur living the green life in our in house made bioactive vivarium.
Make our day and show us your fur, feathered and scaled babies!
Tropical plants have the potential to reach monster sizes.
What is your biggest plant in your collection?
This philodendron gigantium can easily top our list.
Callisia repens or turtle vine is such a prolific grower. I recieved a 1" pot only a couple months before this image was taken π²
What plant in your collection surprised you with its fast growth?
Monstera Albos
π¦ For most people these are a wishlist plant...for obvious reasons.
Variegation, spilts, fenestrations, texture π
We are in awe over here.
Marble pothos are such underated plants. Some of my favourite leaves are from this plant. If you are drawn to creamy white verigation. Marble pothos are a cheap way to acquire that aesthetic.
I use plant care as part of my evening closing routine. Aka my self care. Warm drink + plants = all the zen
It's not but we had to share the newest leaf on this monstera subpinnata.
She is throwing palm tree vibes.

Strings of death....I mean strings of things are sometimes challenging. I have a few tricks for healthy strings.
βΆοΈ Terracotta dishes - I prefer dishes over pots as their root beds are shallow. Make sure there are drainage holes
βΆοΈ Bottom watering. This helps prevent the low foliage from rotting. I let they dry completely between waterings. Similar to Hoyas the leaves will look wrinkly when they are thirsty.
βΆοΈ Layer the strands on top. This allows them to root and fill out the top of the pot.
βΆοΈ Lots of indirect bright light
