Thank you to all three ladies for their support serving the Rotary Club of North Fraser and the community!
When community and collaboration meet, big things happen! Have you seen the new billboard yet? 👀
A new digital billboard was recently installed on Lougheed Highway and Oliver. This billboard is a partnership between Pattison Outdoor Ltd., City of Mission and the Rotary Clubs of Mission (Mission Sunrise Rotary and Rotary Club of North Fraser).
As part of the agreement, Pattison covers all costs related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of the sign. The City will receive an estimated average revenue of $50,000 per year for the length of the 20-year contract. Meanwhile, the City and the Rotary Clubs will receive a combined 10% of advertising space free of charge.
The partnership between the City of Mission and the Rotary Clubs of Mission was initiated a few years ago when Rotary brought the idea of approaching digital sign companies to construct sign(s) in Mission. The hope was that some revenue generation would be possible along with free public service advertising and that the revenue could be allocated to Mission capital projects such as accessible playgrounds that would advance Rotary's community service objectives.
The City recognizes that this sign was a Rotary-inspired initiative and has put this special partnership in place to honour that relationship.
Thank you to Rotary Club of North Fraser member, Gloria, for sharing information today about the Rotary dental trip coming up in spring 2025.
This is not the first time Rotary has sent a dental team to provide much needed care to international locations. The team sets up a temporary dental clinic for the poor and the needy that don't have regular dental care. Teams have been to the Phillipines and Zambia in previous years, and this time they're heading back to Africa!

Mission Rotary Gala 2024 - an Enchanted Evening Celebrating the Magic of Rotary Get ready for a night of enchantment and celebration, as we come together to honour the magic of Rotary at the Mission Rotary Gala 2024!
Yesterday, one of our members, Miriam Bozman, shared a heartfelt presentation on her experience participating in the recent 24 hr Homeless Fundraiser, organized by
The event raised over $8000 for Mission's Mobile Medical Unit, a service that delivers medical care and resources to seniors, unhoused people, and others in need.
Participants in the fundraiser experienced a 24 hr homeless simulation, which included sleeping in an active shelter and completing tasks that shelter users have to go through to access services. To make it even more realistic, all of this was done with no cell phones, no cash or cards, and no ID.
Rotarians at work!
Rotary volunteers enjoyed a sunny day this past weekend volunteering for the annual KidSport golf tournament. The event was hosted by the Mission Sports Council who was raising money for local kids to be able to participate in sports programs.
From 2014 through 2023, KidSport Mission has sponsored hundreds of Mission kids to play sports, with over $150,000 invested.
WE NEED YOUR HELP & SUPPORT TO KEEP THIS GOING! It is with your help & support that we can make a difference in the lives of hundreds of Mission’s youth. All money raised stays in Mission to help Mission kids and families. It is a proven fact that when kids are provided with the opportunity to play organized sports, they are far less likely to make bad decisions such as dropping out of school, stealing, illegal drugs, vandalism or getting involved with gangs. Sports participants are much more likely to become assets to the community as they enter adulthood. It is far cheaper for society to invest in the kids' futures today than pay for their actions tomorrow.
You can donate now towards Mission KidSport at

Every week, the Rotary Club of North Fraser learns from community leaders and gets inspired by what they're doing in our City.
This week, we got to hear from Luke Mason with Youth Unlimited Mission. For the last 12 years, Luke has dedicated his career to helping people on the path to recovery from addictions. He is currently focused on prevention programs, so he is often out in our local schools with the YU Mobile RV connecting with students and offering a safe space.
Thank you, Luke, for sharing your passion for caring for vulnerable people with us and for the work you're doing in and for Mission!
Rotary members are people of action! That means we don't just believe in service above self, we do it. If you want to see what that looks like or maybe you're a person of action too, volunteer with us on community initiatives like this crew of friendly faces who've served at Hope Central this year.
The Mission Sports Council is looking for volunteers for their annual Kidsport Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 6th at the Mission Golf & Country Club. All funds raised go towards helping kids in Mission access sports activities.
Volunteers are needed for 12:45pm - 3pm or from 3-5:30pm and will be treated to a prime rib dinner at the event as guests of the Mission Sports Council.
Rotary Club of North Fraser members will be there volunteering so if you'd like to join us, send us a message!
Last week, we told you about the great need for plasma donations in Canada and how you can help. Rotary members are people of action so we've registered a Partners for Life group with Canadian Blood Services in Abbotsford and our own President, Mike Roux, has made the first donation!
If you would like to help by contributing plasma, please join Mike as he donates again this Friday in Abbotsford at 3:15pm! (We hear from Mike that they have EXCELLENT snack options!)
Be sure to sign in or register an account, select Plasma as your donation type, and click on Partners to join the Rotary Club of North Fraser team to log your donation in.
