Every meal of drink high in sugar will curb the immune system even hours after its ingestion

On the short and medium term, eating too much sugar will reduce the efficiency of white blood cells and increase the inflamation markers

Tips to reduce sugar intake:
Make your sweets at home

Use natural sugar substitutes like erythritol, xylitol, stevia, monk fruit

Use flours lower in carbs like almon, coconut, chickpea and oat flour

Eating more veggies and low sugar fruits like berries

A deficiency in any of those nutrients will alter collagen formation leading to:

- Poor skin health
- Joints pain
- High risk of injury during workout

Meat and organ meat are the richest in those nutrients but low stomach acid can cause a failure in proper protein break down and lead to deficiency in nutrients responsible for collagen formation

Turmeric is a powerful medicinal plant
Best known with its anti-inflammatory anti-oxidant properties
But the trick to reap its benefits is heat, fat and black pepper
Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric is not easily absorbed by the body
Piperine the active and medicinal ingredient in black pepper helps boost the absorption of curmin

And since curcumin is a fat soluble ingredient it has to be combined with fat

This traditional way starts with melting ghee and adding turmeric and black pepper and let it fry until you can smell the turmeric (it takes 1 min or 2) then start adding the other ingredients of the recipe

I took this mouth watering video while preparing my yummy recipe Turmeric Cream Beef Strips πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ Enjoy best of nature's medicine ❀

A good hair day!!!

Healthy hair does not come easy!

Topical hair care like hair masks and other products will give the hair a false, temporary healthy look but will not change it from the root

To have real healthy sustainable hair the change has to happen from the inside out

The body has to be healthy before hair starts showing some health

It makes sense, hair is not a survival priority so it will not use vitamins and minerals before all other organs get their quota 😊

Some of the most important vitamins and minerals for hair health:

Vit A
Vitamin B complex especially Biotin
Vit C
Zinc
Sulphur
Omega 3 (good fats in general)

Stress consumes the resources of the body that is why a side effect of stress is hair loss

Practicing proper and deep breathing will:
1. Make you less prone to injuries.
Proper breathing requires and develop a well aligned posture and helps deliver more oxygen to muscles, joints and organs needed to play.

2. Give you more focus and coordination.
The brain function is affected by the amount of oxygen it receives (that is why we faint in low oxygen areas and why smokers are more prone to old age brain disease). The brain needs more energy when performing multiple complex movement and memory, hence more oxygen.

3. Make you less stressed.
Deep breathing lowers stress hormones levels (cortisol and adrenaline) and sends a signal to the brain that there is no danger to run away from giving space to the brain to relax and focus on art rather than fear.

SLEEP: The silence between the notes

Sleep for all humans is as important as the silence between the notes in music. Those full, half, quarter or eighth rests, where and when you put them, will determine how beautiful or stressing both your music and your life are. Musicians will rarely be able to stick to a steady sleeping pattern. Tours, late gigs, weird rehearsal times will stand in the way most of the time causing 2 types of sleep challenge:
1- Insomnia: A Norwegian study found that musicians performing classical, contemporary, rock, and country music reported the highest prevalence of insomnia
Depending on the event, musicians will experience either runner’s high or anxiety both will cause sleep disturbance (read the details on my website)
2- Inadequate sleep patterns: In best cases, musicians will sleep late the nights they perform, and in a decent hour on normal days. But from my personal experience with family members and friends sleeping in the early am and waking up in the early/late pm is more common (read the detailed article for more details on how this will affect a multitude of hormones among the most important ones insulin, growth hormone and s*x hormones)
What does this mean? Insomnia or inadequate sleep will reduce musical abilities as it reduces cognitive functions. It affects patience and ability to get along with others as well as increase irritability and anxiety. Not very convenient if you are planning to perform 170+ bpm complex pieces with a big band or orchestra😜!! You are at risk of weight gain, depression, extreme fatigue and on the long term chronic disease
Read how to prevent it on my website ❀

Misophonia, tinnitus and hyperacusis are different types of sound sensitivities that musicians can develop through their career

The main symptom of all 3 is perceiving sounds with way more intensity than they actually are.

Haendel is the best example for sound sensitivity conditions. His ear was so sensitive that he couldn’t bear to hear an orchestra tuning up. Therefore, musicians were required to tune well ahead of the maestro’s arrival in the concert hall.
Someone once thought it would be funny to untune some of the instruments while the musicians were off having a drink. When Handel arrived and the orchestra started playing, the sound was so distressing that he tore off his wig and went all crazy on the musicians

As a rule of thumb, if an organ is over/under sensitive, something is wrong and needs to be fixed.

Studies found that people who have sound sensitivities have high levels of glutamate in their brain and are deficient in magnesium.

Excess glutamate in the brain is caused by eating MSG (monosodium glutamate), food dyes, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, aspartame, BHT, and BHA in food and using parabens, phthalates, BPA, formaldehyde, and dioxin in household chemicals

Stay away from any packaged food and supplement magnesium chelate or bisglycinate (600 – 800 mg/day). Magnesium controls the amount of glutamate in the brain while easing the amount of anxiety and anger accompanying this condition.

Most importantly, make sure you stress levels are in check.
