Head baskets are not for the lazy ✫ This gentleman may not be a traditional athlete, but the skill and coordination needed to balance a full basket on your head while riding a bike in traffic is quite amazing…Can you do this?

This leads to the question: were we sharper and less lazy as people in the past? Sort answer: yes! Now, technology that is supposed to facilitate our lives, creates so many shortcuts that it takes a lot away from it too.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono actively took part in the anti-war movement in America. The British legend sang and propagated against the United State's military aggression in Vietnam. His song 'Give Peace A Chance' (1969) became an anti-war anthem back then and is still considered to be one all over the world.

Sadly, if we look at history, it never is. We all stand on the shoulders of people who fought for the freedoms we now enjoy. People, like you, with a spirit full of hope, aspirations for a good life and a universal desire for liberty.

Let’s not take our liberties for granted. Let’s appreciate and protect the beauty of our earth that lends us her land.

We need to expand our understanding and compassion to others who do not have the same privileges and those who seem different than us. We need to open our minds, change some of our ways, and create paths that allow for freedom, for all.

Because at the end of the day, we may be born in different locations, and each handed a different set of cards, but we all share the same home — planet earth — and all want the same fundamental things. So let’s unite. Let’s not fight against each other but for each other. For freedom, for all. ♾

A new area in the British Monarchy begins. Planet lovers will rejoice that King Charles III has championed environmental issues for over half a century and, unlike his mother (may she rest in peace), has lobbied politicians for better environmental policies. Liberation army ༄༄༄༄༄

At goBike, we learn about the past, analyze the present and envision a better future.

What does this have to do with the post? Well, the bicycle is an instrument of liberation, now, just as it was in history.

It paved the way for women’s rights by giving them transportation independence in the 1890’s. It was monumental in granting freedom of movement to all, but especially to women, who were gradually set free of their restrictive corsets and uncomfortable fashions that prevented mobility.

Like the bicycle in its essence, goBike is not about particular dress codes or brands — it’s about inclusivity and freedom, for all. 🚲🍃༄

Business trip to Ottawa — rented a bike to explore in my spare time. Never enjoyed the city as much ✅

For those unfamiliar with Ottawa, Canada 🇨🇦 — it’s the capital of the country and although lovely…it’s usually regarded as the boring cousin of cosmopolitan Montreal, metropolitan Toronto and geographically blessed Vancouver.

I had a similar misconception — until I explored the city by bike. After many such bike rentals across the world, I’ve come to the conclusion that there are no boring cities, you just haven’t seen them by bike yet. So when in doubt, goBike it out! 🚲༄ 🗺

One of goBike’s mandates is to raise awareness of the many benefits of biking, to encourage others to make conscious choices that help make the world better.

Fun fact: cycling is the most environmentally friendly form of transport. ✔️

A UK study in the Scientific Reports journal examined emissions associated with different forms of transport and discovered that cycling is better than walking or car sharing for the environment.

Walking requires more food consumption as fuel for the same distance traveled, and that means more CO2 emissions, though significantly better than driving a car solo.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities, and the main contributing factor to climate change.

If we want to fight climate change, we need to make better choices, on an individual level, globally.

If you’ve never had a Montreal bagel, then you’ve never had a real bagel! This batch came hot out of the oven, from a favourite local institution: Fairmount Bagel — filling our gluten cravings since 1919. Fuel for the ride. 🚀

One of goBike’s goals is to encourage local small businesses. My Sunday bike ride across the city impromptuly lead me to an outdoor BBQ on one of my favourite streets in Montreal: Duluth Ave.

There I met JC (smiling chef to the right✌️). He’s one of the owners of Les Oiseaux de Passage .ca — a BYOB French resto where the beloved La Colombe used to be since the 80s. JC and his two brothers have taken over since August 2020.

Focused on fresh seasonal and local ingredients, it promises to tantalize taste buds…excited to try!

Today was the last day for street food on the avenue so they set up a pop-up BBQ of delicious healthy hotdogs. 🌭 Not an oxymoron, I promise. Go check them out!
