Hello Common Cyclers!
My name is Maxim Wood and I will now be one of your new hosts on this page! Donāt worry this is still very much Josephās band.
Iāll be joining Joseph to coproduce and record a new EP in 2024, as well as take up the mantle of percussionist and drummer. Big shoes to fill, but Iām already loving it.
We will be doing what Hollywood calls a soft reboot of the band with an amazing new sound and we will have many more people to introduce in the following months.
I very much hope to meet the people who have been following Joseph in his music and see your faces when Iāll be on stage with him in 2024.

10 YEARS.
Thank you to everyone who has kept me breathing, and inspired. Canāt weāre still doing this thing after 15 years, and canāt believe We Fu**ed Up just turned 10. Timeās fun when youāre having flies.

TL/DR - hard times. vol. 5 dreadfully available now. The bedroom demos I said Iād start keeping to myself, overly emotional one shot takes with f**k-ups and tears - are now available again as a collection. This time itās not an EP, though.
āāāāāāāā
Sometimesā¦ I think coming full circle is really just an attempt to analyze what parts of you in your darker days still remains, and figuring out how the f**k you made it to where you are nowā¦
ā¦ I held a funeral for my twenty-seventh birthday, and laid to rest the person who wanted to kill himself, along with the music I had written during the years I lived as that person - which emcompassed my āhard times.ā
collections. I told myself I would move on, and so I stopped releasing my bedroom demos and allowed them to just be therapeutic. āhard times.ā versions of songs have come out since, but I really just say that because itās a quick demo, and I think most of them were covers anyway.
The last 8 years have been a rollercoaster, and frankly the part Iām on right now has been a lot like a nosedive. Iām strapped in, and I know that it will swoop up eventually butā¦ how long it will be before that happens is really hard to tell at this point.
I thought maybe this might make me feel better. Sharing some of the songs Iāve written over the better part of the last decade that were almost all forgotten, which I used as therapy to help me through whatever I was going through at the time. I know I said I wasnāt going to do this again, but franklyā¦ I donāt really know what else to do with my emotions at this point.
Hopefully this finds whoever it needs to so neither of us feel so f**king alone for a second.
Love you
- Joe š
AOTY FOR ME.
Come Sunday!
10 years ago I wrote a su***de letter that I turned into a song.
I will always remember Mike telling me he didnāt like it. āIt aināt a bad song, I just donāt like it.ā And for a dude who rarely if ever doesnāt enjoy a song Iāve written - I took that to heart.
Happy to be alive.
Happy to have friends like Mike.
Happy birthday to Peace Out.
Iāll never play this one again

MY BAND RELEASED A NEW SINGLE!
A Wreck On the Rocks, by .norescue. track by .norescue.
This is a real special one for me.
Even tho we started this band together, I have always been Mike, and Maxās biggest fans. Through and through, they blow me away all the time. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to gas my friends up in the town that adopted me.
Outside of being able to show my friends off, this is almost like me getting to introduce my beginnings to Montreal. Get a real taste of where the music and style comes from.
Come have a wonderful time!

I will never forget this moment for as long as live. So much to say, but words are not enough right now. I will try to be more eloquent soon but right now I am still trying to believe this actually happened. Thank you Willie Nelson and Luck Reunion for giving this girl a day beyond her wildest dreams šš¼ā„ļøš„² (Oh, and he loves his custom Hills Hats Limited New Zealand made cowboy hat š¤ ā„ļø)
10 years ago today, the original lineup of common cycles - les trois mousquetaires, Mike, Max, and I - played our last show together.
Mike and I started this band when we were 17, after a few attempts to try to start more genre centric projects (mostly metal), weād picked up our acoustic guitars and began to write more rock/folk centric tunes. A couple of songs in weād written Best Intentions, and as we realized we actually kinda found something - Mike brought up that he had a friend at school named Max. It wouldnāt be long after that I would meet him, and for the three of us to just start playing music together.
We never really practicedā¦ we just really had an energy together. One of our first shows was a Coffee House night at their high school, and my favourite part of that story is just getting high in the field beforehand, and watching Max play Grassblade for my first time. I do remember we played Mr. Jones - and Mike did the āooh La Lasā and I had a hard time keeping in my laughter.
Not long after that, I would get kicked out of my house but somehow the three of us still consistently were able to play music together, most likely because Max had a car.
To be honest, even though Max and I had just met - we started to hangout all the time. Even going to record one his songs together really early at the London Music Club one day. Heād pick me up early in the morning and weād just listen to music and smoke w**d all day.
Weād play music together the three of us just around at peoples apartments, but once Mike had his own place, though, we went ham. We started a side project where it was all beatboxing and ājunkingā (playing on jars n s**t) called The F**kinā James Deans and The Zouk Junk Big Band and really went in on making jams off the top of our heads - letting the structured life of CC kind of fall by the wayside. We made a record called āYou Wanna Just Call It Straight Up Badassā which none of us have any clue if itās around anymore.
When we wanted to go back into Cycles, we found we were having trouble connecting. We didnāt want to be a band where one person wrote all the music and as it was - I was the only one really taking the initiative. Once we realized we were having too much trouble and we were getting frustrated - we decided to go on hiatus and pursue other s**t. I ended up doing the solo music thing as āSilent Treatmentā and eventually āHomegrown Joe Cassisā for just over a year before we would decide to try and be a band again.
Over the course of that year apart, I had become an entirely new songwriter. Iād found a sound and Iād finally settled into my voice. After the boys joined me as my backing band for a solo show, just as a one off thing - we decided we wanted to try being a band again and that we would finish the songs I had done with the intention of using them as a calling card, and then writing as a unit.
We practiced like 10 songs for months until we decided to hit the stage in February of 2012 at Call The Office. The next show we would play together, which would turn out to be our last - was this one, and we killed it.
After this moment, we try to go record an EP together but, Max and Mike on their own time both quit to pursue other things, leaving me to keep the name - and record what would become We Fu**ed Up (which also turns 10 this year).
This is the only live recording of me nailing the end of this song note wise, because about a year later - I would damage my vocal cords and require surgery (which rendered me no longer to hit those notes).
To say itās special to me is an understatement. Itās me, and my two best friends - playing music together on a legendary stage. I wasnāt wasted, I wasnāt overly baked, i remember every moment of this show.
Iām blabbing.
In the 10 years since then, CC has seen numerous lineup changes, formats, releases and hard times (lol), but - Iām still kicking. Still doing this because itās who I am.
Thanks for sticking around
Happy birthday!
