The Yale Nextouch line offers a wonderful option to retrofit old mortise locks with something more modern. Available in multiple finishes such as matte black, shiny brass, and as you can see here: aged bronze. Operable from your phone through an app, but as always we install an option for key override in case of neglected batteries/unexpected technical problems.

The building didn't want to replace the original part and decided to just decommission the fob reader and have this area accessible by code or key.

Upgraded the design and replaced a crusty rusty 3-bend interlock astragal with a stainless steel model. Removed handles from inactive door, they were rubbing on the plate when it would expand from weather, and were confusing customers who'd pull on them, damaging the flush bolts.

Custom size, colour match powder coated, laser cut astragal. 🤩

The push-to-open buttons were working inconsistently and it wasn't clear whether the problem was electrical, door misalignment, hardware misalignment or something else. We ruled out electrical first, then moved on to door/hardware which is where we found the problem and fixed it.
