Time is tricky. Sometimes it drags on and on , while other times it seems like years have passed in a blink of an eye.

I’ve been open about slowing down lately. Trying to soak in that last couple months before returning to work, but I’ve also been slowing down for these one on one moments.

Less phone, less chores, less tv. Just time in the sun, with full attention. It’s challenging but the reward has been huge.

I’ve seen the micro moments that I might have missed. The small moments of play between the two kids, the brief snuggles on the sun couch before he runs off to play, watching him growing braver and bolder and more independent.

I’m not sure how I’ll feel when I finally start back at work, but I know 100% that I’ll be glad I stopped and slowed down this summer.

To Santa or Not to Santa? The newest debate that has the parenting community up in arms ⬇️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The cancel culture is at it again and this time the target is good ‘ol St.Nick
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re just coming to the heated debate that was first introduced to me by .mama I’ll fill you in quickly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Santa is now a no good Rascal who teaches kids to distrust their parents. Telling your kids that Santa gives you presents takes away from the reality that parents are the true heroes of Christmas and that Santa is just for scaring your kids into being good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a kid who grew up sleeping under the tree each Christmas Eve and would wake up to delight as the presents that Santa and even the reindeer left, I can tell you that I don’t distrust my parents any less.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Obviously Each parent can choose what’s right for your family, but saying that revealing the secret of the Santa sham is a “truth building exercise” is a little ho ho horrible to me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you think? Should Santa stuff his own stocking this year or can we let kids hold onto a little Santa magic? Comment below ⬇️

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝗳 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆

What if the kindest thing you can do today, is give yourself some self-care!

Here's 3 ways that you can 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲:

𝟭. 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗽 𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻. Give yourself the gift of a kitchen free night and order in your favourite meal! Pro tip: always order extra for that next day leftover lunch!

𝟮. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵. Who doesn't love a good soak? Unfortunatley, most baths are interrupted by a splashing toddler. So once the kids are in bed, treat yourself to a glass of wine, a good book/podcast and soak in the good vibes. Trust me, it beats crashing in front of the TV for the 4th time this week.

𝟯. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱. With a year of social isolation, sometimes the best gift you can give yourself is a good laugh with a friend, or two. I feel totally recharged after 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 "𝗺𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲" and just being myself, laughing with some girlfriends over zoom. Throw in a glass of wine, and it'll definetly make you feel revived again.

Double tap if you're doing something for yourself today 💖 Share your favourite way of recharging in the comments below 🔽

Whether you typically buy into Valentines Day normally or not, I think this year we can all use an excuse to celebrate, spread some love, hug and kiss our family and enjoy the small moments.

To my two Valentines Day Men. I love you both so so much ❤️ thanks for making 2020 and 2021 not so terrible.

In my ears this week, .co 's 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝘁 podcast!

Since joining Laura's program, I am hooked you guys! I am a classic overthinker, people pleaser and procrastinator. All this combined means, 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲!

So this month, I have been crushing her podcast & 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 all while juggling being a full time RN, working mom and starting a side hustle!

What's on your playlist? Is it helping you achieve your dreams or taking you further from it?!

Every industry has it's gurus.

We have a tendancy to put people on a pedestal and look up to them like they are super-human!

But guess what? Here's something the gurus don't want you to know they are just like 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗘.

They have imperfect lives and challenges that they are constantly overcoming and 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 through. They just don't want to show it.

Inside .britton, I don't hold back on the real truth or hide what you need to know most. The ups, the downs, the mess and the 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀.

Want to know a secret?!

I am obssessed with watching Life hacks on Youtube! From slicing watermelons, to separating egg yolks with a drink bottle and getting ink out of a white shirt, I am hooked!

I'm also a fan of things that 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿!

Here are my 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝟯 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 every parent needs to know!

𝟭. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 - Ugh, I know, I know. Making plans suck but they are sooo helpful! Having a set routine is so powerful for creating intentional time, having less stress and more down time! Plan out your day and evenings, so that by 1030pm, when you're half asleep on the couch, you feel like you've accomplished something and given yourself so much needed "you time"!

𝟮. 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇 - Feeling down and totally overwhelmed?! Stop and take a deep breath and say as many things as you can think of that you are grateful for! It doesn't need to be complex or deep! Just start with your home, your family, your clean sheets, your warm clothes and go from there. Gratitude blitzing, raises our vibrations, opens our hearts to welcome calmness and can help reset your lizard brain that says "everything is going to hell in a hand basket". Curious?? Give it a try. You'll be high vibing in no time.

𝟯. 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 - 😬 I know. Guilty party over here 🙋🏻‍♀️ But if I could summarize the biggest thing moms fear...missing out. But guess what? You're not. Those few hours between work and bed are precious, and putting intentional thought into being "with" can make a huge difference. So put down the phone and set time for family, of course after you've read this post and shared it with all your friends 😉

Any other hacks that you think I missed? Share below! ⬇️

These past two years have been a whirlwind of change!

Between becoming a mom, learning to balance full time work and parenting and now most recently, investing in myself as a coach, I have been pushing my "safe zone" boundaries.
You know the ones that you when pass all you can think of is, "omg, did I make the right decision?!".

This year I have especially challenged myself to learning new skills and putting my passion for helping others to paper.

I'm not not ashamed to say that when I put that first deposit down on my training, I felt scared s**tless. Investing in something just for myself is something I've never done before.

But here's what happened after jumping in. Things finally started moving forward. I stopped dreaming and started doing. I have a course framework being built, a new webpage coming in soon and eventually open doors for a few foundation students!

So if you're going through a time of change (good change, bad change, totally not sure change) and it's feels uncomfortable...keep pushing because on the other side...is something really good.

And, if you need a virtual cheerleader, I'm here.

Everytime you think you're not enough, take a look at that face.

The face that loves you unconditionally, whether you're in old sweat pants, haven't showered in 3 days, have chicken fingers and peanut butter for dinner, or just a hot fu***ng mess.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to be "more than" what we already are - fu***ng awesome moms.

When I asked you last week, what makes you feel guilty there were so many moms struggling with the same feelings of being not enough.

- not doing enough sensory play
- not spending all of my available time with my child
- not wanting to play
- desperately wanting alone time
- & feeling guilty once they had it

But you are enough. You are so fu***ng more than enough because you also unconditionally love your child back.

Next time you feel like you're not enough. Take a look at your child and know that you are perfect.

Give yourself some of that love back to yourself.

Now more than ever we need...

To be kind to ourselves

To be kind to others

To take help when we need it

To take a long bath because we deserve it

To scream at the top of our lungs if we need the release

To cry if we need to grieve

To say no to s**t that doesn't serve us

To say yes, to things that scare us but will help us grow

So Mama, take what you need and let the rest go.

I needed a reminder today about my "why"

Why I want to help other women let go of catastrophic thinking and limiting beliefs.

Because they are so fu***ng destructive to your mental health.

This morning, I got into an argument with my husband (a small one that was quickly resolved) but that voice that told me I'm worthless would not shut up.

So I started making my decatastrophize list.

1. What is the main worry that is causing this catastrophic thinking?
2. What is the likely hood of this worry coming true? Has it come true before?
3. If it does come true, what's realistically worse that could happen? Try not to exaggerate and ground yourself in your current state/relationship/activity
4. If it does come true, what will realistically happen? Not worse case.
5. If it does come true, will you be ok in ___ hrs? ___ days? ___ weeks?

My result? My husband isn't going to leave me, or the world won't end. A disagreement about chore sharing may cause discomfort but ultimately opens up communication and allows me to voice my concerns.

This is my why.

This is why I want to share these tips and mental helath action strategies. Because a conversation about dirty dishes shouldn't ruin your day or make you feel like a piece of crap.

Let's start breaking down this negative self-talk together ❤️

Save and share this post for the next time you are catastrophizing and need a hand seeing how awesome you are ⬇️

The one gift you must give yourself this Christmas ⬇️

Committing to a life you want will not always be easy.

It will require you to say yes to things that feel uncomfortable.

It will require you to say no, which can feel even more uncomfortable.

It will require you to say no to people you love.

It will require you to set boundaries and put yourself and your family first.

It might create shifts in relationships.

It might be heartbreaking.

Setting boundaries is not always as simple as saying no and may need to repeated again and again.

You may even find yourself questioning the path you’re on and the strength you have to keep on it.

But if you can stay brave to your heart and keep your boundaries, what it is, is the most empowering, soul filling, and addictive thing you can do.

Who needs this gift in their lives?

Drop a "HECK YA" below and tag someone who helped you see your power and hold you to your heart, even in the shakey moments. ⬇️

What limiting beliefs and lies do you carry with you?

For me, it's every single one listed above.

Lately though I have struggled with feeling brave enough to BE MYSELF.

I hide under my label of "introvert" and I call myself a burden, shelfish, unliked, & boring.

But here's the thing. The lies we carry with us are just that. LIES.

And unless we ACKNOWLEDGE them, THANK them for teaching us a lesson, and then LET THEM GO, we won't see the TRUTH.

The truth that I can't please everyone but that's ok. The truth that I may not have the perfect body, perfect social media account or perfect house and that's ok too.

I'm a nerd, a book worm, a movie lover and a killer Catan player. And that's PERFECT because it's me.

We give power to limiting beliefs & lies by not acknowledging them.

What are some lies you’ve been believing? Write them down, thank them for the lessons they taught you, and then let them go.

How many times have you called yourself the following?

A Bad Mom
Worthless
Stupid
Boring
A Failure
Unliked
Unlovable

For me, these words and feelings were, and still are, on repeat in my head.

Around and around and around.

And each time I would repeat it to myself, those feelings grew stronger and the belief became more real and a bigger part of my identity.

For a very long time in my life, my anxiety has been my constant companion. The stress around being a new mom, simply gave it gasoline.

The limiting beliefs I had carried with me into motherhood, had unsurprisingly followed me there too.

Until one day, I said f* it and it all came out. Over a bottle of wine, every fear and belief that I had been pushing down and swallowing since Charles was born, came up.

After the tears had run dry and the wine bottle was empty, I realised that by trying to hold onto the image of a "good mom", one that holds it together, has no doubts and is sure & stedfast, was slowly killing me.

By continuing to push down those feelings, and not acknowledging our fears and the limiting beliefs we carry, we are not only doing ourselves a disservice but our children as well.

So here it is, in case you're not ready to believe it yourself yet. Repeat after me.

YOU deserve to be happy, vulnerable and brave.

YOU deserve to be able to express frustration, fear, anxiety & helplessness in a safe way that BUILDS YOU UP instead of tearing you down.

YOU deserve to look in the mirror and say, "I may not be perfect, but I love who I am". And your children deserve that too.

We're just going to jump into this Ladies. There's probably a more graceful way of starting, but anyone who knows me, knows I'm a clutz and bull in a china shop. So here we go.

F* Mom Guilt.

There I said it. F*uck it.

I am by nature and upbringing a reasonably anxious person, but after becoming a Mom... Wow. Next level MOM GUILT.

Guilt about sleeping training or not, about baby led weaning or spoon feeding, about cloth diapers or disposables, formula, pumping or breastfeeding. The list goes on and on.

And the worst part, while we're beating ourselves up as Moms and trying to do everything possible we can for our children, there is a pervasive culture of Mom on Mom hate that is TOXIC.

And Ladies, this s**t has to stop.

So here, in my cozy corner of ig, I am creating a safe space to talk about the other side of motherhood we don't see.

The side where we cry in the bathroom and relish a second of alone time.

The side where we are so exhausted we sometimes wish we didn't have kids.

And the feeling of being so lonely that we cling to toxic friendships and start to believe other people's judgements on our decisions as Moms.

So welcome to your safe space.

F* Mom Guilt. Embrace Happiness

Xoxo Meg

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 with a toddler... 🤔

I had a fantastic little helper with our fridge clean out, in honor of

Pros - You will get this done in record time as there's no time to debate recycle or keep. "𝐈𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭, 𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞" was the theme of the day

Cons - balancing a toddler, old jars of salsa, sundried tomatoes, almond milk and half eaten bottles of peanut butter, required more coordination skills than a blindfolded gymnast on a burning tight rope.

Never too early to learn new skills though right? 😂

Do you want to know a secret?

The moments where you aren't overthinking and you're just being, is where the magic happens ✨

When Stephanie sent me a sneak peek photo from my recent family photo shoot, I was so surprised to see how happy and beautiful I was in a moment where I was simply being with my son.

Not posed, not making sure everything was tucked in and perfect. Just being me. Being "Mom" to a wild toddler who'd rather run in the mud than pose for photos.

I actually had a whole plan of sharing a photo about my recent 5K, but after seeing this photo I knew that this moment here, was what was I was most PROUD of. Starting a family and having the privilege of being a mom.
