Nothing encourages imagination like a good open ended toy, and unit blocks are a perfect example. They lend themselves all kinds of learning and development. These toys encourage motor development, balance, spatial awareness, math concepts, imagination, problem solving and the list can go on! This large set can be so many things! With spring around to corner it’s a great time to explore farm life. In our house farm play has been a staple, and even more engaging as we are lucky to have a farm right in our city, with spring babies set to be born soon! The animals in this set are beautifully made by The Friendly Woodworker, and the farmer is expertly painted by .theranch . Both add a nice touch to this large barn with plenty of room to play.

Our new canvas tent is the perfect way to play as we dream of springtime on these sunny days. Pair it with any of our outdoor bundles, stepping stones, and balance beams to make camping play between outside and inside seamless. We are happy to be adding another resource to our lineup just in time for holiday baking season! This kitchen tower is a great tool for children to be involved in what is happening in the kitchen, to learn alongside and from what is being modelled. $15 a week, DM to book!

As I sit here eating lunch (while still hot!), I am fascinated by my daughter’s imagination. I just love watching her set up the doll house just the way she wants it and play “family”. This dollhouse kept her busy for a while! Here at The Mother Tree, we have a variety of toys to spark children’s imaginations! We are on vacation from July 3-13. We will still be taking orders, however, no new pick ups can be arranged during those 10 days. Please note that we may be slower than normal to respond, but we are still here!🙂

A favourite pastime in our classroom was always playing hairdressers. The children loved taking turns doing hair and getting each other ‘ready’ in all kinds of fun ways. This salon set is as sweet as it is fun. It comes with the barber, hairdresser, and makeup set. Check it out in our dramatic play highlight or on our website at www.themothertree.co

Surprise! We’ve added a climber and ramp! We decided to make our selection more versatile by offering this arch and ramp together or separately. This arch in itself is incredibly versatile. The slats make it comfortable to use upside down for sitting or rocking, and the rungs make it compatible with a ramp, and allow for hanging underneath. It’s also MUCH bigger, making it great for all ages, and foldable, making it perfect to transport! Check it out in our gross motor highlight and DM to book!

Surprise!! We’ve added to our climbers! We’ve decided to add more versatility with this climber and ramp that can be rented together or separate. The rainbow slats make the climber comfortable to use upside down to sit in and rock, or make a bed or boat, but the rungs mean it can also be used with a ramp. It’s also a larger climber than our other arch and our other rainbow rocker, making it great for all ages. Smaller children can even hang upside down inside! Here’s our May delivery days! $5 within 25km. Farther delivery can be discussed! Choose pickup, drop off, or both at $5 each. You can team up with a friend and have one delivery to one place to save on delivery too ;) Please note our usual policy of payment by pickup is slightly adjusted for delivery. Payment is due by 6pm the evening before your scheduled delivery to ensure your spot.

Our bundles are here! We’ve been dreaming up these bundles for months, and a lot of heart has gone into them. These are the most personal items we’ve put out so far and we are so proud! We partnered with some great local makers and Canadian shops to bring these together, and we feel with these that we are getting to the center of who we are and what we want to do here! So without further ado!

Our Creek Hopping Bundle features waterwheels from , beautiful boats by The Friendly Woodworker, fishing net and scrunch buckets from , moon scoops and coconut scoops from , treasure tubes and a magnifying glass. Our Creek Hopping Adventures book is made by and is intended to help connect those who rent this bundle. By sharing our favourite destinations, special creeks, observations, stories, drawings etc, we hope to build a community collection filled with heart and knowledge.

Our WaterWorks Bundle features Explore nooks waterway tracks and coconut scoops from as well as some coconut bowls from .and.me and various scoops, bowls, and buckets to be added in for tons of waterway fun.

Our little discoveries bundle features a weaving frame and track identifier and finder from , a scavenger hunt and ten frame from , a bug catcher from , butterfly net from .ca_ as well as a collection box, magnifying glass and treasure tubes. The dandy-lion by can be filled with flowers to make the lions mane, and the community collection book () can be used to share memories and discoveries with everyone who adventures with it after you.

Our Feathered Friends Bundle was developed in partnership with the and features replica eggs of birds all found in the Ottawa area created by .theranch, matching information card’s illustrated and made by , an Audubon bird call for attracting birds, a feather holder, handheld working telescope, treasure tubes, magnifying glass, and community collection book by for sharing sightings, drawings, and whatever you’d like to share! Sometimes getting work done with children around can be impossible! Especially when you’re trying to take pictures of toys and they have to wait to play with them!

But in these challenging moments can be such beautiful moments as well!

Today, while finishing up some last minute things for the drop, my daughter kept trying to get mine and Kayla’s attention. When she finally got our attention she said ‘look a turtle!’ 🐢

It was such a great reminder that even though the day may not be going as planned and there have been hiccups (I locked my keys in my truck), to slow down and don’t miss out on the memories that can be made with our children.

I’ve written this caption a few times and not quite known how to say what I want to say. What I do know is how excited I’ve been to get these beautiful wheelchairs. These feel very personal for me. I (Kayla) was born with a disability that didn’t begin to deteriorate until my twenties. Until then I lived the life of an able bodied person. I currently use bilateral leg braces and my need for mobility aids will change as time goes on. I know how hard it can be, as an adult, to feel the pressure and assumptions that are out there for people with disabilities. There are so many things that are challenging that most don’t even give a second thought to. It’s important for our toys and books to reflect people with disabilities. Our children with disabilities need to see themselves, our children with loved ones with disabilities need to see their loved ones, and all children benefit from the understanding that comes from representation. It’s just one small toy, but I’m so very pleased we have it. One is a pull toy, because pull toys are fun and also because not every child is able to push a toy on the floor, and the other is standalone to be pushed with their hands. There’s nothing more thrilling for my own kids than pushing the grocery cart and helping fill it. This market set is endless fun, as your child can do it all! The realistic metal shopping cart starts out this shopping trip, which includes the market stand, food, open sign, bags for the groceries, and cash register with money to finish up their errands. All our toys come with pictures and a list of what is provided, so you can easily mix in your own play food and be able to separate afterwards.
