Hey BOTB friends, if you’re looking for another fantastic cause to support look no further. Alvin and Tim are embarking on a 100km swim challenge starting on Aug 15 (weather permitting) to raise funds for the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation and Sainte-Justine’s hospital. For this fundraiser, they will swim a combined 100 km open water, doing laps in Meech Lake, about 16km/day each.

If you have the means and feel inclined, you can support them at https://secure.fondationduchildren.com/site/TR/DIY/DIY?px=1143370&pg=personal&fr_id=1142

LOGISTICS for kit pick up and race day!

By now, all 1.5K and 3K participants should have received an email with important info. If not, links are below to view the full info online.

Weather & Water Quality: yes it’s raining now, but the weather for Friday and Saturday looks great! Water quality is typically poorer within 24 hours of a rainfall (meaning Sat. will likely be ok) but please note that we do not cancel the swim due to water quality issues alone. Therefore, every swimmer must make their own decision, based on personal health. Thanks!

Race kit-pick up: Friday, July 12th, 4-7pm at the Nepean Sailing Club, 3259 Carling Avenue, at Dick Bell Park.

Did you know? ANYONE can participate in Bring on the Bay.

If you want to swim the 1.5k or 3k distance, but have never swum in open water and are apprehensive, consider swimming with a Swim Angel. Our angels are experienced and safety-trained open water swimmers with the skills required to help you navigate safely to the finish line.

Reluctant to swim in crowds? No worries. Swim with an angel and you will enter the water in the last wave, well behind the crowds.

Worried that you might get overwhelmed and have a panic attack? Relax. Your angel will talk you through it. This is the ninth year of the Cathy Brooks Swim Angel Program. We've helped many swimmers who never thought they could complete a swim like this get to the finish line.

For more information send us an e-mail at [email protected] or read more about it at https://bringonthebay.com/the-event/swim-angels/

05/30/2024

Early-bird registration ends at midnight May 31st. Registration numbers are at an all time high! Register now for savings and before the race possibly sells out! See you all on Saturday, July 13th!

Hello Bring on the Bay Swimmers!
Registration is Now Open!

Registration is now open for the 17th Annual Bushtukah Bring On The Bay Open Water Swim, across beautiful Britannia Bay. Swimmers of all ages and abilities, wetsuit or non-wetsuit are invited to join.

This year’s date is Saturday, July 13, 2024, with a 3 km swim and 1.5 km protected open water swim course, excellent facilities, snacks, prizes, and awards. We offer swimmers the opportunity to compete, train or swim for fun!

The 1.5 km swim will depart from the 'Surfer's' Beach at Britannia Park, while the Classic 3 km will start at the Nepean Sailing Club, as always. All swimmers will finish at the Britannia Yacht Club, receive their finisher's medals when they come out of the water, and will be welcomed to a refueling station featuring snacks and refreshments.

Registration is available at bringonthebay.com. Race kit pick-up for all swimmers will be held at the Nepean Sailing Club on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4 – 7pm

The Cathy Brooks Swim Angel program is here for you if you need it. It has been established to accommodate swimmers who would like to swim but, for reasons ranging from disabilities, to medical conditions, to even fear of swimming alone, would not otherwise be able to participate. Request an angel, and you will have a personal cheerleader with you for the duration of the race!

Registration fees are the same for both the 3 km and 1.5 km events. You may change your event after registration, subject to availability. Register early to avoid disappointment, as more participants are expected this year and limited space is available.

Early Bird - Before May 31: $65
Regular - June 1 to June 31: $70
Last Minute - July 1 to July 10: $75
Day Before - July 12 at Race Pickup: $85

All proceeds go to Easter Seals Ontario, a registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth with physical disabilities. There will be plenty of incentives for you to fundraise this year with awesome prizes to win from our main sponsor, Bushtukah, and more! We ask that each swimmer set a goal of raising a minimum of $40; let’s see how many kids we can send to Easter Seals' accessible summer camps! There will be online fundraising pages available to participants. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for fundraising tips and guidance on how to set up your personal online fundraising page.

Bring On The Bay Ottawa 3K & 1.5K Open Water Swim

09/27/2023

On September 26, Counselor, Theresa Kavanagh held a volunteer appreciation evening at the Ron Kolbus Centre where she celebrated volunteer
achievements.
Richard Pessah, Judy Piel, from Bushtukah, Tony Wright, and Park Davis accepted an award on behalf of all of the volunteers associated with the Bring on the Bay Charity Swim for Easter Seals. Tony & Richard were both absent, travelling. Theresa Kavanagh noted that almost 200 volunteers from the club & the community worked to provide a
safe, fun experience for almost 600 swimmers last year, her included!. In all, your volunteer contributions to the Swim & the Club have raised almost $750,000 since its inception in 2007 when 12 swimmers and one boat started the event. Best of all, it was fun to do!
Kudos to all who took part
