Use one, some, or all accordingly!
You showing up as your own best friend and advocate is the biggest gift you can give yourself.
What matters the most is not how others choose to see you, but how you choose to see you. This is a challenging process that takes practice! Sometimes it starts with adding in the word 'maybe'.
Take the boring example.
Your inner dialogue could start with:
"Maybe I am boring sometimes. And also, maybe I'm in love with the ordinary, glorious moments"
This way you're letting ALL the possibilities of who you are in, and learning to accept all of you.
Imagine how comfortable and confident you will feel once you get to a place of no longer worrying about any labels, expectations or descriptions placed upon you (by yourself and others!), and seeing that you have the capability of changing the narrative.
So empowering!! Again, it takes practice just like anything else when we are learning.
I do love the addition of 'thank you'. Adding this can change what feels like an insult into being grateful for an opportunity to see yourself in another way. "Thanks for the reminder that I love the ordinary, glorious moments!"
Even if the daytime activity is a nap 😂
Wonderfully written!
I think it's time for me to go watch that awesome movie again 😊
There’s a line from the film Inside Out 2 that resonated with me so deeply. You’re likely to miss it if you don’t pay close attention.
It’s the scene where Sadness shyly asks Joy if she can go down into the memory pool with her. In response, Joy takes Sadness hand into hers and says to her friend, “Of course! Remember Sadness, wherever I go, you go too.”
When I heard that, I remembered how some people like to say that they are afraid of being so happy because they know that after the happiness, sadness follows. That’s really no way to live, and neither is it true. One doesn’t follow the other because they always travel together, side by side, hand in hand.
Joy and sadness are like the railroad tracks. Even on the saddest of days, if we look hard enough, and allow ourselves to experience it, there will always be some joy to be found. Likewise, even on the most joyful of days, like the birth of a child, a wedding, a graduation, a championship, or a promotion, when we remember that someone or something is missing, there will always be that tinge of sadness.
So when we say that we are grateful for life, we cannot just be grateful for the joyful moments, we must be grateful even for the sad parts. We must be grateful for all of it. Joy and sadness carry us (or we carry them) as we move forward from one season of life to the next.

Another "I feel seen" moment on FB 🤣
TRUTH! 😂
I too am bad at summer 🤣
I've always preferred the process of warming myself up after being out in the cold to the process of cooling myself down after being out in the heat!
Who's with me on this one?!
(Yet, I want to move to Australia some day....dilemma!
David Sedaris described Australia as "Canada in a thong" 🤣 )
Where to begin?! 😂
Nevermind the shoes, outfits, classic 1040s narration, and the ridiculous machines....what about the woman just kinda hanging off the wall?!!! 😂
Dogs ♥️
A girl can dream, right?! 🤣✨️🤞
Gotta love this woman!
Sing it loud, sing it proud (every day!)
🤣🤩
Dogs make EVERYTHING better, right?!
Look at that face! 🥰
Such a powerful, necessary message.
It's a challenging mindset to change.
We have the power to change the way we think, therefore feel, therefore become. It is worth the thought work and you are 100 percent able to do it.
It starts with awareness, being able to see how you are treating yourself mentally (without self-judgement!). Then intentionally, consciously, purposefully talk to yourself with some compassion:
"I see why you're being mean to yourself, we've been programmed to believe this will bring the result we want. Now I know better and choose to be kind to myself. I choose to let myself know that I believe in ME. I'm here to be my own best friend and will support ME all the way through it all."
In a society that is action driven, this seems to simplistic, not enough, and a bit too "woo-woo". However, it is where it all begins!
Slowly, you will create the new belief that loving and respecting yourself is the only way to get you to where you want to be.
Once you create your new mindset, you will then create the actions you need to get there. BE then DO, not DO then BE.
You become the person who does the things.
Witnessing this process is empowering and it will happen. Trust the process to end up trusting yourself.
