Pictou County Mariners Swim Team
Swimming is a unique sport in that it encompasses an activity that is both an essential life skill as well as being fun and competitive. In regard to the latter, it is important to emphasize that our program focuses on each swimmer striving to improve and doing โtheir personal bestโ.
๐ ๐ Way to go, Amelia!!
Acadia has welcome Amelia Boudreau to the program for the upcoming swimming season.
She joins the Axewomen from New Glasgow and her home club, the Pictou County Mariners. Her primary stroke is backstroke, but she has completely regularly in fly and IM events this season.
โI am so excited to get to continue my swimming career at Acadia where I can further develop as a swimmer and student,โ she said. โThis university has so much to offer and I cant wait to make memories with new teammates and coaches.โ
Boudreau was a member of the Mariners for the last eight years. She was a rookie of the year award recipient and recently received the clubโs most spirit and excellence in swimming award in 2022-23.

This is a late post, but i thought I would share a few pictures from our end of year banquet back in June. It was a great evening of food and laughs while recognizing and celebrating all the hard work, dedication and achievements of all our swimmers and coaches.
The Mariners are more than teammates - itโs also a supportive and encouraging family of friends, and it shows in the smiles, camaraderie and high fives on and off the deck . (For swimmers and families alike!) We are so grateful for Coaches Ed, Kristie and Tara who inspire the athleticism, competitiveness and sportsmanship of our swimmers.
We also officially said goodbye to our graduating swimmers. Ian, Owen, Blayse, Mya and Angus - your leadership and positive impact will be seen in our younger swimmers for years to come. You will definitely be missed, and we wish you all the best!!
Have a wonderful summer, and see you back on deck in September!!
~ Adeline
Almost 300 swimmers from Ontario, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia participated in the Ken Dunn East Coast Championships from July 8-12 in Halifax. Seven Mariners qualified and competed, and we are so proud of all of them!! This was a fast meet with incredible swimmers, and our team represented Pictou County well and with pride! Seven swimmers swam *30* Personal Bests times ๐คฉ, 8 A-finals and 2 B-finals! Amazing!!
This morning the meet wrapped up with an Open Water swim at Long Lake. Anna, Amelia, Kiera, Luke and Nathan all swam the 1km event with Nolan and Lily from PHAST. What a great way to end the season! Congrats Mariners! Itโs now time for you and Coach Ed to enjoy some summer vacation. ๐
