This winter/spring I went through The Presence Process (Michael Brown's 10 week breathwork journey)
In this there is some key CONCEPTS that we are already full beings. You & I are not broken people who need healing. Rather there is less doing required, yet more being.
A big take home for me was I don't have to DO all these required things to be HEALED.
I just need to show up for myself, be open to integrate my emotions through the BREATH.
What is required is simply showing up & breathing.

In massage school during my practicum;
I worked with a client who was non-verbal.
Over the duration of 6 weeks - 60 minute massage treatments; my client never once smiled, or showed any level of enjoyment or appreciation for the massages. I was so unnerved & concerned that I was not helping. She came to each session, and I worked on her tissues for an hour in silence.
At the end of the 6 weeks of sessions: she gifted me this little rabbit & a smile as big as the sky.
I feel so eternally grateful for this client, and for this experience.
This was the moment I knew helping people was my greatest calling.
Although I have transitioned my business to coaching. I mantain the core value of being in service to others.

This isn't a post to tell you, 10 tips to be well....
Yet self-care loses its value when we are in constant "hustle" mode.
I can't tell you the amount of times after I massaged someone -
as soon as its done they jump up ๐โโ๏ธ & are diving back into work.... I did my hour of self care โ
๏ธ andddd next....
Honestly the BIGGEST piece of advice to avoid burnout is to SLOW down.
PRESENCE is a gift ๐
Its actually that simple; yet by far the hardest thing for a North American to hear.
This requires us to be counter culture. To slow down; to notice the health within. ๐ค
I implore you to create SPACE. When you are stacking your day: give yourself 15 mins of extra flexibility between appointments.
Don't add MORE to your plate.... actually things away take away.
You are intrinsically worthy of rest ๐
Post traumatic growth is the reality that after trauma some people can go on to survive & thrive!
Not to minimize the traumatic experiences....
Yet to highlight the nature of human resiliency.
Incredible gifts CAN come from trauma recovery.

In my personal experience; struggling with burnout for over 2 years, & post covid syndrome the past 10 months.... I feel I'm slowly edging towards health. Honestly this has been the most challenging years of my life.
(There are different degrees of trauma- can be from dealth or experiences. It is how our nervous system responds to the stressor)
Fortunately I'm starting to have the energetic resources to tap into my resiliency. I now see some gifts from this experience.

After last summer with a knee injury & post covid syndrome; I am SOOO grateful to be able to move my body again!
My hope that you recognize what a PRIVILEGE it is to be in a healthy body. I didn't think much of it until my health was impacted.
I implore you to add a bit more self compassion in your life as you navigate challenges.

I want to share my experience as Mรฉtis individual โพ๏ธ
I feel like a walking contradiction.
One part "Settler"
One part "First Nations"
Both parts pulling at me.
Not fitting in either world.
For a while, I danced on the edge of it.
I felt if I truly integrated my culture....
I would have to hold space for all the parts... the deep revence for mother earth, connection to spirit & intergenerational trauma parts.
I was afraid to feel deeply.
I CHOOSE to release my fear.
I trust that my ancestors are guiding me towards resilience.
We are such a resilient people.
The Mรฉtis people took the best of both worlds and merged them into one.
The beautiful BC mountain passes that were "discovered" by settlers. Were shared by First Nation's woman who married settlers. These unions created the Mรฉtis people ๐ซ
I am so blessed and proud of my heritage ๐
I release any shame around my heritage as a Mรฉtis woman.
I deserve to be here in my power.
I am meant to share healing with the world. And I'm here for all the parts that this comes with. ๐ค
๐ค mercury retrograde hit me HARD.

๐ค Everything felt like an uphill battle.
๐ A significant opportunity to observe one's reaction to dissonance.

Yesterday I was in the pool by myself doing yoga. The poses are completely supported by the buoyancy of water.
๐ I fell out of balancing poses and LAUGHED.
Why am I afraid of falling?
๐ฑ I am afraid I won't be supported.
What if I lean back and TRUST?
How does my experience change?
I just let myself fall without catching myself. And EVERY time the water supported me. My head stayed above.
Such a beautiful reminder of the SUPPORT that surrounds us ๐ซ

Yet you & I are more than our performance, or our ability to DO all the things.

The last couple years have come with their own unique sets of challenges.
Despite how uncomfortable it feels for me to share my healing process.... It has been on my heart to do so. My intention is the expand your awareness. To see to believe that HEALING is available for you. โจ
Since 2019 I struggled with burnout. I've learned many valuable lessons on boundaries & energy expenditure. I quit my practice as a massage therapist. Took the summer of 2020 off work. Went back to massage part-time. Quit practicing several months later. Then worked full time at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy. Shifted & worked part-time at the school, and back to part-time massage therapy.
August 2021 tested positive for COVID-19. I quit working at the school. And a month later quit massage as well. Did not return to work as a massage therapist. Diagnosed with long-term covid.
Currently I am taking care of pets & I am back in school studying to be a Career Development Practitioner.
I am HEALING; now in a place where I can guild others towards WELLNESS.
I have heard from many friends and family, the new set of challenges with POST COVID SYNDROME. I am linking some helpful resources to visit if you are having a hard time bouncing back. I was fortunate to receive help from the post-covid clinic. At my last check up they said that the clinic will be closing. This breaks my heart as we are still needing these services. The nurse said on average the clinic receives 6 referrals a day from Medical Doctors. I thought what can I do to help others? I can share this info with you.

In your interactions do you listen to respond?
Before the other person has a chance to finish their sentence, have you already configured a response in your head?
I know I often do.
Its a practice to listen fully & then respond. If we are making a response in our head we miss part of the communication. This results in an energetic disconnect. Whether we are acutely aware of it or not.
I invite you to step out of instant response mode. Slow down and reflect.
Wouldn't it be incredible to be truly seen and heard in our interactions? It starts with you/me.
Communicate with this in mind: show up in the way we want others in our lives to be. The person in your conversation may even mirrow your (listening) communication. If you are present it invites them to be present. Then we can connect on a deeper level. Slow down to consciously connect.

I wanted to share this powerful article with you!
I am not against numbing per say.โฆ at times it is actually healthy for you to โnumbโ. My therapist told me this and I couldnโt believe it! I thought that if you numb you are missing out on the BEAUTIFUL life in front of you. It depends if it is something that you do regularly - like daily or weekly. Because at times you need healthy distractions from difficult experiences.
Going for a run or a swim to escape the running mind is great. Maybe even a joint or a beer. (Unless this is not in your best interest- we all have our own path. One thing may work for me and not another)
Our relationship with โnumbingโ is what needs our attention.
Are you numbing out of life daily?
Are these behaviours unconscious?
Is there guilt associated with your behaviours?
Do these behavours influence your state of being?
I personally noticed when I drink (even just 1 or 2 drinks) there is a decrease in the strength of my intuition. This lasts a couple days.
So for meโฆ the question is what is more valuable for me?
I implore you to try it out. Slow down and notice. Be consciously aware of your habits. Are they serving you or are you enslaved to them?

I love when the weather changes (esp when its warmer๐)! The seasonal CHANGE reflects in my life as well ๐ซ
I shift my diet to more raw fresh foods. Your gut "wakes up" in the springtime. Now able to easily digest more nutrients from raw foods in the spring/summer. Whereas more cooked warm foods in the winter.

There are many key factors in this pose to protect your low back/spine & to recieve the most effective tissue stretch! In this video I correct a few common mistakes when practicing this pose.
I am blessed to have learned so much about the human body as an RMT๐ - this has given me a strong anatomical understanding to transfer into yoga postures/poses.

Movement meditation. (You don't have to sit perfectly still for hours on end. You can do that if it works for you by all means)....
And you can also walk through the forest mindfully & release any thoughts that may come up. Move with intention....
While you walk; notice the sounds in the forest, the smells, the temperature, how your breath feels moving in & out of your chest.
I like to pick a tree a few yards away & notice it. Decide to release all thoughts until I get to that tree. Then once I get to that tree pick another one ahead of me on the trail. And repeat this exercise. When thoughts come up I release attachment & let them drift on by like the waves in the ocean. The thoughts in your mind are like the waves. Another one is already on its way in. Let go. If thoughts are bombarding you let it be. Zoom out and notice without attaching to the stories. Feel into peace in this moment ๐ค

-Amazing expansive romantic relationship to show me what is possible! & when we broke up I was able to detach my sense of worth from this connection. (In the past my self worth would be influenced by how others perceived me especially in relationship)โบ๏ธ
