Well hello out there! I know I haven't been active on this space in awhile, life is busy, that's all. I really love making my art, everything else that goes along with it can be rather time-consuming. However, just because I haven't been active doesn't mean I've stopped making art. I actually have quite the winter re-stock coming up! I'll be doing my best to be actively sharing product pics over the next month. Our online re-stock is on Nov 15th at 6pm PST, and $1 of every piece sold will be donated to the Northern Spotted Owl Breeding program-- a non profit organization working hard to save this beautiful owl specices from extinction.
The re-stock will be a mix of coasters, candles, spatulas & bookmarks.

I always tell myself I'm going to get so much done over the summer and catch up on things. However, the opposite is usually true, and I start looking forward to those school days again when I can finally accomplish some solid goals. Anyone else? 😅
I have still been wood burning here and there, but plan to start getting Christmas stock built up starting in September. Silent Forest Designs has been on the back burner the last few months, as I've been working to reopen my bodywork practice and take courses.
With summer coming to an end, and more space returning, I'm hoping I'll get hit with a wave of creative flow... or at least some solid motivation! 🫠

Coming out of hibernation... 🌱 I've been taking a lot of time this year to reflect on my artwork, and figure out which direction I wish to go. With ongoing back issues, I've had to really balance how much time I spend sitting and woodburing—it really can exasperate the pain. And with putting more energy towards opening my other business, I am trying to figure out what's feasible.
This year, most of our sales will be through our website. In order to have time and space for everything else I wish to grow, doing small batch is just the most practical. It will also give me space to explore other forms of art, and free up creative energy—something I've struggled with over the past year.
My goal is to still continue making a lot of pieces, just going at it a bit more slow and mindfully.

I have been making a new collection of coasters, candles, and bookmarks, and will start sharing more pictures soon.

Anyone else looking forward to a break from routine!? 😅 With my sons busy school/after-school schedule, along with trying to make art, get ready for the holidays, look after animals and our house, I am a little ready for some downtime! With that being said, I am really happy with how our season went, and look forward to recharging and coming up with some new designs for next year. I'm also going to be trying a new form of artwork, one of which I've wanted to try for over 2 years!
My last 2 sets of coasters will be available today at 6pm PST. I've also added 2 driftwood pieces that will also be available at 6pm. All other items are now on sale, and this Friday (the 15th) is our last available shipping day.

We had a dead leylandy tree that didn't survive transplant last year. Just out of curiosity, I asked Zac to cut some coasters from it to see what it was like. They are actually quite beautiful, with really nice grain, and I feel really disappointed that we couldn't get more coasters from the tree. I have a small batch of coasters coming on to our restock this weekend and next, made from this tree.
This is my west coast cedar design—it's been a few years since I've created it. 🙃
