QHS sports awards are on! Thanks to Mathis Dumoulin, Sylvie Laflamme, and April Nicolas for the design of the panels for décor of this week’s awards ceremonies as well as Mr. Tremblay for the building of the pillars on stage and panels!
So our vernissage was a huge success! Thanks to Mr. Buyck for these fabulous pictures and all our helpers at QHS for their help! Thanks to Ed Sweeney and Paula Breton and Ms. Arsenault for your support! Especially, thank you to the Ville de Québec and the employees at the Centre d'interprétation historique de Sainte-Foy for going above and beyond to help us set up this exhibit! We had over 250 attendees on opening night! Thanks to my colleagues who also came and supported with music and help! A special thank you to my colleagues in the arts, Ms. Laura Peterson, David Rompré, Mr. Gregory Domonkos, and of course our woodshop guys, Mr. Tremblay and Mr. Marc Miville for sharing their space with my classes!
As well, thanks to all of my colleagues who graciously put up with the cafeteria classes and roaming students who were sometimes being *ahem* creative in spaces around the school. It takes trust in students to develop a sense of confidence and creativity. A very special recognition goes to our students of course for daring to create and show their work! Bravo to parents who continue to encourage their exploration! Thanks also to all of our volunteers who helped serve food and drinks on opening night! Leeça St. Aubin

The QHS improv team (the "Liars") and the dance concentration put on an excellent end-of-year showcase last night! Congratulations to both teams for their hard work, dedication, and passion for these creative arts. An extra-special thank you the improv coach, Ms. Cynthia Gagnon, and dance teacher Ms. Genevieve Provost, for helping our talented students develop their skills over the past year.
The QHS YMCA exchange is underway in St. John's, Newfoundland. Today our students became honorary Newfoundlanders after they went through the "Screech'd In" ceremony. The final step was to kiss the cod fish.
QHS was proudly represented last weekend as 2 of our seniors attended StarFest in Ottawa organized by the Theatrical Arts Education Association. Accompanied by Ms. Cynthia Gagnon, the girls (Sophie Demers and Sofia Buijs) came back with ribbons for all their performances (Musical theatre solos, duet, and duo scene).
Sofia even scored an advance ribbon for her performance of "Astonishing" from Little Women the Musical. We are also proud to announce that they each returned home with scholarships from prominent performing arts schools.
Sophie won a $5000 scholarship to Vancouver Film School. Sofia is coming home with a $500 bursary from TAEA, a $5000 scholarship to the Vancouver Film School, and last but not least, a $60000 USD scholarship from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA).
Most importantly, they are coming back to school ready to graduate with their heads full of beautiful experiences and memories.
We can't wait to see what you will accomplish! Long Live the Arts!
Thanks to Ms. Cynthia Gagnon for her dedication !
What a night!
