Sarnia Lambton Alliance against Hate
The Sarnia Lambton Alliance against Hate (SLAH) provides support to victims of hate motivated acts.
We provide emotional support to individuals in the community when they have experienced a hate motivated act, advocate for justice, conduct referrals to additional community supports, provide education about hate motivated acts and facilitate community awareness projects.
National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to celebrate and acknowledge the identity and value of Indigenous people, today, yesterday and tomorrow. As we continue to lean in and learn about the experiences that many had, it is important that we also give space for reflection and absorption of what is shared.
Let us recognize and celebrate Indigenous people today and all year long. It is EACH and EVERY one of our responsibility to know and practice about living in truth and reconciliation. As settlers on this land we have a responsibility to know and listen to the people who called it home first.
Can't wait to see you there!
Because all genders and sexual orientations matter.
Happy Long weekend. Reminder we will be closed until Tuesday May 21st at 9am. See you then!
This week is National Rainbow week. It is a week that reminds us all of the importance of acknowledging, validating and supporting the identity and well being of our 2SLGBTQAI+ community, friends, neighbours, family, colleagues and seeing the humanity in people. Canada is in a time of change and evolution, we can all play a role in looking beyond our own selves to make spaces welcoming for all.
Learn about legislation, stand up for human rights, be open to hearing lived experiences. It all matters
His families and students of Gregory Hogan School, do you have questions about SLAH or are interested in chatting with some local community resources? Come by the World Fair event, we would love to see you there!
We recognize today's significance and offer our heart's to the countless families who have been affected by the holocaust/.
Understanding and respecting our history is integral to bettering our ability to care for each other and to work as positive allies against discrimination and hate.
We encourage all to take some time to reflect on the importance that today represents. Please see attached a link to the Toronto Holocaust Museum for in-depth information.

Thank you to for hosting this years Sarnia Plant Swap for yet another successful year! Thank you everyone who supported and participating in the event, it was a beautiful thing to be part of.
Happy Earth Day! Today is a reminder to care for the ground, air and water that surrounds us all. With the recent reports of air quality affecting the health of Aamjiwnaang members we are reminded of our connection between health and environment, and the importance of protecting the health and wellbeing of all.
2nd annual Sarnia plant swap, April 22 @ 4-9pm at 148 Front Street (Collide)
We'd like to take a moment to note both today as Vaisakhi, as well as April as National Sikh Heritage Month.
Sikh Heritage Month was established in 2013 to honor and appreciate the effects Sikh culture has had on Canada's history. From working on the Pacific Railway to fighting in our wars before many of them were legally allowed to vote. Sikh's effects can be felt across Canada.
Today, April 13th is Vaisakhi. A Sikh day of celebration in honor of the teachings of the ten Gurus and the Holy Book Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We would encourage all to consider taking some time to reflect on this day and perhaps take it as an opportunity to further develop your understanding of Sikh culture and history.
Sikhism is a belief not just in God, but in living one's life with moral character, and with respect for others.
"Recognize all human race as one."- Guru Gobind Singh ji

Today we recognize International Day of Pink.
What started as a local project to advocate for equality has flourished into a widespread day of recognition and advocacy.
We invite and encourage all who see this post to remember the importance advocacy can have.
