MR. PEPITO "PETE" ESCANLAR TAKES HIS OATH AS PH HONORARY CONSUL IN REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN
27 April 2022, Ottawa - In a simple oath taking ceremony held at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, Mr. Pepito “Pete” Escanlar (right) was sworn in as Philippine Honorary Consul in Regina, Saskatchewan by Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles.
An architect by profession and a native of Iloilo, Mr. Escanlar is also known for his active community work in Regina, SK. While working to foster deeper understanding of Filipino culture through the Philippine Association of Saskatchewan (PAS), he is also engaged in local projects to encourage youth involvement in visual art and has worked with the Urban Canvas Program for the Downtown Regina Business Improvement District from 2019 to 2021.
Ambassador Robles noted that he is primarily tasked to ensure the welfare and well being of the more than 36,000 overseas Filipinos in Regina, Saskatchewan, among other considerations, and to actively liaise with the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, Alberta, in the formulation and ex*****on of the plans and programs of Philippine Posts in Canada. Escanlar joins Consul, a.h. Ronaldo Opina of Winnipeg and Consul, a.h. Consuelo Lacson of Halifax in heading Philippine Honorary Consulates General across Canada.

Safe Inc met with Minister Harisson yesterday to discuss issues Filipino businesses are facing here in Saskatchewan.
It was an exciting day for the Saskatoon Association of Filipino Entrepreneurs (Safe) Inc as the organization was able to meet with Saskatchewan Government Officials during their visit at the Legsilative Assembly in Regina.
Safe Inc headed by President Toni Chin (Flor's Authentic Filipino Cuisine) and Vice President Tetet Buenaventura (Mamus Corner) together with Flora Padua (Flor's Authentic Filipino Cuisine), Yvette Jamarolin (Ecko's Lechon) and Rex Cabellon (Dessert Plus by Rex) met with NDP MLA's headed by Vicki Mowat of Saskatoon Fairvew.
The group also met with Minister Jeremy Harisson Minister of Trade and Export Development together with MLA Todd Goudy of Melfort.
Discussions were made and concerns were raised by Safe Inc regarding the issues the Filipino business are facing in SK.
A milestone was achieved as Safe Inc was introduced during the assembly yesterday.
The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary is pleased to inform the public that it will be conducting its first Consular Outreach Mission for 2022 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on May 17-19 from 9am to 6pm and on May 20 from 9am to 12pm.
