Lakisha Custer-Sewap
Tanisi ᑕᓂᓯ (hello)
My name is Lakisha Custer-Sewap. I am a Woodland Cree Indigenous MUA
Just a reminder that I applied to be apart of the 2023 and applications close tomorrow April 4th!!! Please leave me a testimonial to help improve my chance of getting selected!
Sephora Squad members get the opportunity to work on Sephora Campaigns, get to work with a variety of different brands and their products. Also, attend events, meet, and learn from makeup artists who are top of the game rn, get opportunities to use professional studio equipment and get selected for paid marketing on social media.
For some time, there has been a lack of Indigenous representation in the beauty industry. Becoming a part of that change and gain the self improvement that I need to become a better makeup artist would mean the world to me 🫶🏼

About Me:
My name is Lakisha Custer-Sewap (insta: nithaomalakisha). 23 year old makeup artist, teacher and mother. From Deschambault Lake, SK. A northern, Woodland Cree, reserve. I started off doing makeup at the age of 17, out of living in an isolated community and a deep need for self-expression through creativity. I pushed myself into trying new looks off inspiration, and my dedication to self improvement. Since then, I have been perfecting my craft by introducing Graphic Designs and working with different artistic mediums (LIKE BEADS) and putting that into my makeup artistry. Both Inspiring, and leaving a mark on others in a creative and unique way.
As an Indigenous Makeup Artist and Beauty Influencer, joining the Sephora Squad to me would mean to stand alongside one of the biggest makeup retailers located in many countries around the world, showcase my talent with the support and opportunities that the Sephora Squad has while promoting inclusivity and diversity through Indigenous Representation in the Beauty Industry.
Joining the Sephora Squad would mean getting to find my taste in products for my skin type, other skin types, shades and textures then being able to share through my experiences with others based off of new knowledge that I learn throughout being in the Sephora squad. Also, finding out products that work for more graphic looks that I have planned for the future!
Be sure to write a testimonial for me out of support to help me achieve the opportunities that would benefit further success for me and my artistry.
Thank you! tiniki, hiy hiy

On Canada day we wear orange shirts and ribbon skirts 🧡
Had a fun week being off classes. Worked on so many ribbon skirts with my cousin. Now one last assignment and back to class monday! 📚📚📚 My summer consists of reading, more reading, headaches, coffee, anxiety and assignments. But also, tanning, swimming and daily walks with my son 😆. I’ve been MIA and will continue to go on/off being MIA on social media but by this winter I will be done all of the classes I need for my first degree so it’s all good.
Cheekbone Beauty UNBOXING!
with Water First Education and Training Inc. Cheekbone Beauty SEPHORA Canada
Being an Indigenous women who grew up in a reserve that often had boil water advisories, you gain lack of trust for the unreliable out dated water systems. A lot of Indigenous people living on reserve turn to bottled water for that reason and some don’t have that choice. It’s 2022 and 73% of Indigenous Communities across Canada have water systems that are at risk of contaminants like E.Coli. So it really means a lot to me that Sephora Canada will donate all proceeds from Cheekbone Beauty to Water First, a charitable organization addressing the water crisis across Indigenous communities during the month of June. The link is:
https://www.sephora.com/ca/en/brand/cheekbone
You wouldn’t put a lipgloss made with lead to your lips, so why should indigenous communities have to drink water with toxic lead in it?
Recently, over 26% of schools in First Nations communities across British Columbia were found to have unsafe levels of lead in their drinking water, which can lead to a host of physical and developmental issues.
For years these communities weren’t told the extent of the problem.
For the month of June, is donating the proceeds of any of our real products sold in their stores and Sephora.ca to . It’s time we stopped glossing over this issue.
!!!
Introducing our new lipgloss collection, not available
anywhere because it’s made with contaminated
water from Indigenous Canadian communities.
Indigenous people across the country continue to
deal with long-term boil water advisories due to
contaminants like lead, E. Coli, and mercury that
poison their drinking water.
