2023 Reclaimed Projects

Started out the year with a 60x20' pig shelter. Working in some pretty cold conditions the crew managed to get the job completed quickly. The framing lumber and metal roofing was a hot item and only sat in the yard for a week.
The next project was a barn that was starting to rot away. This project began in June and with all the summer distractions finally got competed at the end of September. Most of the framing material was not worth salvaging but we did quite well with the red barn siding. There is still a good selection in the yard if anyone needs any. We also managed to salvage some nice doors and sliding door hardware.
Looking forward to the upcoming spring season. We already have one project lined up. Stay tuned this one is quite different.

Just completed what is probably the largest order yet. A King Size bed, 2 nightstands and 5 barndoors. For awhile I didn't think I was going to get it all done. The client supplied most of the barnwood for the doors and bed, but I had to dig into the inventory to complete all the pieces. The bed was my first attempt at log posts and rails. It turned out to be a lot more work than I anticipated. I was glad it turned out nice.
The client was happy with all the work and that's al that matters.

It was a great day yesterday. I shipped my first reclaimed log structure out. The logs are heading south to become a cabin for someone. Big thanks to my neighbour who supplied the skid steer to
load the truck.
It puts a smile on my face to see this 103 year old barn start a new life.

It's kind of like a right of passage. My first end grain cutting board.
it all started before Christmas and I've been working on it off and on between other projects. There were many steps to get it to the finish line and I learned a lot. We are running out of room in the kitchen with all the cutting boards I've been making. This one looks kind of cool don't you think?

Just completed a renovation of the old workshop off of the garage into a canine massage studio for the wife. Used barn siding on one wall, whitewashed shiplap on another. For the trim around the doors and window as well as the baseboard we used barn wood. Added a rustic patterned vinyl floor and beadboard ceiling.
Finished with reclaimed wood picture frames and a live edge coat rack. All in all it turned out quite nice.

Built this Garden Bench out of poplar half logs reclaimed from an old house. Finished with 5 coats of poly to provide protection for this beautiful blond wood. Not bad for my first crack at building a bench!

Hunter or Trapper Cabin

Reclaimed +100 year old 28(l)X20(w)x8'(h) log barn. Structure was dismantled in April/May 2022 with care and with reuse in mind. Each log was tagged for easy reconstruction. This would make a great shell for a simple hunting or trappers cabin. Just add the interior walls and roof. Structure has 2 doors and 3 windows. Logs are in good shape with no rot. Please contact me for more info.

It's Spring!! Time to reclaim some old barns. We are currently working on this 100+ year old log structure in Parkland County. It's great being outside pulling nails and watching the geese return from the south.
My crew is excited about this old structure and the next one we have lined up, it is over 100 years old as well. Looks like there will be a a lot of old logs and weathered siding up for grabs in the near future.
Stay tuned😁

Tried something different. Created a portable Fly Tying Table out of reclaimed maple hardwood flooring for my son-in-law for Christmas. It was a great design build project and a pleasant change from the other projects I've been doing lately. The look on his face was worth all the work. It was a winner!

Just in time for Christmas I finished this custom ladder shelf. The sides made of reclaimed Douglas Fir and the shelves are live edge Walnut. The sides are stained with Jacobean stain and it all has a few coats of poly urethane. There were a few challenging moments during the build but in the end it turned out quite nice and the client was happy. Win! Win!

Tis the season. These Christmas Tree Shelves seem to be a popular item this year. Seems like I can't make them fast enough. They are kind of different and look good holding the little Christmas stuff that you never have room for.

I've been busy lately making cutting boards for Christmas gifts. The large one is maple with walnut inserts. The small one is just maple. Great for gift giving or stocking stuffers.
