This alert is in effect for all communities between Wetaskiwin and Calgary, that are west of Veteran's Memorial Highway 36 and east of the foothills (see detailed map in link).
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Thunderstorms may develop in the foothills later this afternoon. If they develop, they will become severe with very large hail, very strong winds, and a risk of a tornado.
This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes. Stony Plain is currently under a water advisory. At this time, non-essential use of potable water has been suspended for Town operations.
There are currently no restrictions on residential or business use; however, residents are encouraged to contribute to conservation efforts.

Due to the recent extreme hot weather, the region is seeing an increase in water demand. Effective immediately, non-essential municipal operations in Spruce Grove are under Water Demand Measure A restrictions.
➡️ This means there are water restrictions in place for non-essential potable water use for all municipal operations. As such, the City will suspend all non-essential water usage operations until conditions improve.
➡️ This also means the splash pads at Central Park and Fuhr Sports Park will be closed until further notice. The REMAX Spray Park located in Jubilee Park uses a water recirculating system and will remain open at this time.
There is no restriction on residential or business use; however, the community is always encouraged to monitor their water usage and follow good conservation practices.
Hot, dry weather can create more demand than supply. Water restrictions give our reservoirs and water treatment plants an opportunity to recover so that there is sufficient supply to meet essential requirements.
