Our Chef Doug (Douglas James Lamb djl709) is a culinary genius and I am so glad you’re all able to experience this first hand yourselves by tasting the passion he has for cooking in his Vegan foods! Yes, I’m biased, but I believe you’ll agree 😉

Have you missed us? 😏

Spose it's been a minute, by's, hasn't it? Sonja here with an update! Its been a little over one year now. One year since everything changed and we had to close our doors to business until further notice. Obviously, our team has not able to return since.

Grief hit me hard. I found it difficult to continue with my day to day and even took time off from my day job and volunteer work. A Cut Above is a team effort. Doug and I depend on each other and work together seamlessly. There is no ACA without both of us! Throughout my struggles, he stood by and supported me. I'm grateful! But to the detriment of his dream.

Eventually, our Friendly Neighbourhood Vegan chef had to look elsewhere for employment and eventually found himself a managerial position in the bustling kitchen of the Delta St. John's. I'm immensely proud of him! Doug can put his mind to anything and be successful! He's doing an amazing job there and making a name for himself. He's also ensuring that vegan options will no longer be an after thought when designing future menus.

But he's busy. So busy that I barely see the man! And I am back to work and volunteering as a Therapy Dog Handler with our little pup, Remy. We are both trying to get by. Emotionally, financially, mentally, etc. A Cut Above just isn't a possibility at this point. Maybe some day...but the future is unknown.

In the meantime, catch Chef Doug at the Delta hotel's restaurant, The Pinnacle! They're participating in the Downtown Burger Battle and he has an awesome vegan burger asking to be devoured! He’ll be on NTV news tonight to tell you all about it!

My beautiful mom, Dr. Edita Bosák, was laid to rest today after a two month health battle. She was strong, brilliant, sophisticated and just perfect. Douglas James Lamb and I spent every moment we could with her every day in the hospital during this time. My brothers and I rallied together to support my dad the best we could but nothing compares to the love my mom had for him. We will all miss her greatly but I am so happy I got to spend over 30 years getting to know her and feeling her love.

We apologize for putting the business on hold, but my mom is my world and family should always come first. Doug and I hope you understand and will welcome us back with open arms once we have grieved. Although, I doubt I ever fully will.
