Who is this Andrew Hawthorn person anyway?
Andrew Hawthorn is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, podcaster, comic book writer, and roller derby announcer.
A radio journalist since 2013, Andrew has created and produced three shows for radio, including Web Trawler, VOCM Lunch Bunch and Apocalypse Then, which he co-created and produces with his wife Ainsley Hawthorn (above). He was recognized with a silver Atlantic Journalism Award for Breaking News in 2018, and he currently writes for the CBC in St. John’s.
He writes and scripts comics, writing for Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the webcomic On the Bounty. He also teaches writing for narrative art, as he did at the Pure Comix Festival.
He created and produced two independent podcasts, No Time for Heroics, and Monster Squad Minute for the Movies by Minutes series of shows.
Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Andrew has lived and worked across Canada, as well as in the US and UK.
He has a very good dog named Effie, but still considers himself Jellicle AF.
