Registered Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathic Therapy
Guess what!? The past couple of years I have been quietly taking classes to become certified in Manual Osteopathic Therapy so I am proud and excited to annouce that I am now offering it alongside traditional Massage treatments.
It's no surprise that your body needs a little love and care - it works hard to keep you moving!
Here's your daily reminder to stop and take a few deep breaths and step away from whatever you're doing for a moment.
We're halfway there! Are you getting enough sleep this week? It is so tough to shut things down and get to bed early these days with all of our commitments and responsibilities, but it's so worth it when you start to wake up feeling refreshed!
There are a lot of working parts in your body, and when some systems get run down it can affect others and your overall health. Regular massage, exercise, getting enough water and nutrition are all great ways to support your immune system.
A bit more sleep, drinking your daily water requirements or even a quick stretch before you head out the door for the day - all the little things we sometimes push to the side but know our bodies would thank us for.
It's hard to believe that a muscle in your body is working non stop without rest, but your heart is amazing and works all day every day!
Going into the weekend with a calm mind can help you enjoy your free time more. Every day you should stop and take a few deep breaths to slow down.
It's true, the impact of massage and osteotherapy is full body! That means it affects everything from your hormones and mood to your muscles and circulatory system and everything in between. It should absolutely be an active part of your overall physical and mental healthcare plan.
Think about the coming week with work and scheduled activities - should you fit a massage somewhere in there? With longer days we're starting to get outside a bit more and muscles are feeling things they're not used to after months of being cooped up in the dark. Help ease your body back into things with a relaxing massage!
Take a few moments to stand and stretch your neck and shoulders moving them slowly through the full range of movements while breathing deeply and slowly.
Mindfulness helps us pause and recenter our body and thoughts. An easy way for children to dip their toes into mindfulness is through practicing body poses. Take your child somewhere quiet, a place they feel safe and settled, then help them to try one of these poses:
The Superman: Stand with the feet just wider than the hips, fists clenched, and arms reached out to the sky, stretching the body as tall as possible.
The Wonder Woman: Stand tall with legs wider than hip-width apart and hands or fists placed on the hips.
Help them focus on breathing deeply and feeling the little stretches throughout their body, and don't be afraid to do it alongside them - it's good for adults too!
Anyone else ready for spring weather? We're already through the first quarter for benefit use, so if you haven't treated yourself to a massage lately there's no better time!
We like to think about this every now and then - is my time to relax REALLY spent relaxing? Your mental and physical health depend on those little breaks so take ten minutes wherever you can to really step away from things to daydream or put your feet up.
Massage can benefit children in many ways. It can help with digestion, frequent headaches, and helps improve sleep quality. It can improve immune system function and help support your child's ability to cope with the stress of chronic illness. Parents and teachers of children with ADHD have reported reduced symptoms, increased confidence, and improvement in behavior when they received massage therapy. Not to mention how great it feels and the general benefit of reducing stress and anxiety by lowering cortisol levels.
Share the love! Pregnancy massage is good for both the pregnant patient and baby. It helps improve circulation, relax muscles and relieve stress - there's lots to love!
STOP whatever you're doing. Sit up straight and take four slow, deep breaths making sure you feel it down in your lungs. Slowly and gently move your neck, back and arms before you go back to working (or scrolling - I won't tell!). Remember to take a few moments to breathe deeply throughout the day :)
Massage and Osteopathy are meant to improve your health, but I want to do everything I can to improve other areas of your life and direct billing is an important part of that process. Once we have your information set up, we can direct bill on your behalf to 30+ benefit/insurance companies. Call to find out if we work with yours!
Hello December!
That's right, there's only four weeks until the end of 2022 (How can this be??) and if you have insurance benefits that means the end of this cycle before they reset for 2023.
So, if you haven't had a massage lately, give yourself an early - and relaxing - Christmas gift!
Your daily reminder to take a few moments to relax your jaw, your shoulders and neck. Stretch and take a few deep breaths before sitting down again.
Tonight seems like the perfect night for a scary story... but this adults only ;)
Image description: A spooky haunted forest background with a scary story for adults printed over top. It was a dark and stormy night, and the neighbourhood kids were playing hockey in the street as the sun went down.
"I should go play for a minute" Dad thought, bending to pick up his shoes. He stopped short as a terrifying POP was heard from his lower back.
"Maybe not" he said as he shuffled out the front door to prepare for the storm. "maybe a massage tomorrow before this gets bad" he mumbled, walking down the stairs...
As we shift into winter mode, remember that many people use your sidewalk to get to work and school and keeping a clear, safe path is the responsibility of every home owner and tenant. Let's take care of each other!

How are you doing? We're checking in because as the cold sets in and the days get longer, it can affect how we're feeling about many aspects of our daily life. We know how dark and long the winter is, and if we're not checking in now at the start we may miss some of the warning signs that our medical professionals may see. So, take a few moments to schedule a check up and stay on top of seasonal changes.
Mondays. They're rough for a reason! You're out of your comfortable home and back to stressing your body on the job. Make sure to take a few breaks to stretch and relax throughout the day!
You know how the song goes! All of your joints and muscles are connected and when one is out of place it has a ripple effect through your musculoskeletal system. Let's start to get that back into place!
Winter is coming! The leaves are blowing away and the cool weather is settling in so get out there while you can and enjoy a walk before the deep winter cold is here.

Massage is a great way to be proactive about your health care. Staying on top of small annoyances can prevent them from becoming big problems!
Don't forget to fill your water bottles up! We tend to drink less as the days get shorter, but proper hydration is vital for all of your systems from digestion to organ function and healthy skin.
October is ADHD Awareness month, and massage can play a vital role in management. It helps decrease fidgeting and improves reported happiness for ADHD individuals.
