Paxman exists because of Sue.
Paxman was born out of a husband's desire to prevent his wife from suffering through the trauma of chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
By recognizing the devastating impact hair loss can have on an individual, the Paxman Scalp Cooling System was developed to help minimise hair loss for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

One of our highest priorities is making sure that anyone who wishes to scalp cool can. We know that everyone’s hair is different, particularly when it comes to scalp cooling hair care and hair preparation. We firmly believe that scalp cooling is an efficacious addition to chemotherapy treatment for all patients, as long as the appropriate guidance is available. We now have dedicated hair preparation for types 3 and 4 hair, allowing us to continue providing support for patients with curly and coily hair. Full hair preparation videos for all hair types can be found here: https://bit.ly/3S1nOBC #ChangingTheFaceOfCancer #ScalpCooling
We know that it can be extremely cold here in Canada during the winter months. For those undergoing scalp cooling to protect their hair follicles during chemotherapy, we understand that these cold temperatures can be difficult when trying to manage your hair and keep your scalp warm. We want to ensure that you are provided with the necessary information and guidance so that we can make things a little bit more manageable for you where we can. Here are some ways you can ensure your scalp is protected and your hair is cared for during these cold months: 💛 Wearing hats, beanies, head coverings, and scarves is completely fine to keep your head warm! 💛 You can be creative to hide patchy hair loss or thinning with whatever works for you, as long as you continue brushing your hair twice daily to prevent matting. 💛To help manage dryness, natural pure oils, such as argan, almond, or olive oil, can be introduced into your hair care routine to help soothe and moisturize. You can use oils on the ends of your hair when appropriate or as a mask before washing. Hair preparation before fitting the cold cap is a really important part of the scalp cooling process. It allows you to achieve a close and consistent cap fit, which in turn increases the chance of a better outcome. When preparing your hair, we’re aiming to achieve 3 things: ✔️Smoothing down your hair across your scalp to reduce the volume, getting rid of any air pockets. ✔️ Using water to help increase conductivity, ensuring that it is as easy as possible to transfer heat away from your scalp. ✔️Using conditioner to ensure that the cap is easy to remove. We’ve recently put together a rundown of all things hair preparation. Root Colour Spray during Scalp Cooling
Did you know that using a root colour spray whilst scalp cooling is ok, along with using a dry shampoo between washes?
Always test first to be sure of no scalp sensitivity, but using coloured fibres or root spray to cover patchy hair loss is just fine ✅
Use sparingly though to avoid a build-up in your hair! Check out our hair care blog linked in our bio for more guidance 🧡
