Investigators located a stolen excavator, Chevrolet Camaro and other construction tools as part of a property crimes investigation in North Durham.

Through the spring/summer of 2022, members of North Division conducted an investigation into stolen construction/landscaping tools. Police arrested two suspects and seized a mini excavator, 1968 Chevrolet Camaro and numerous types of construction/landscaping tools.

Kevin DELAURIER, age 47 of Uxbridge is charged with: Break and Enter x3; Theft of Motor Vehicle; Possess Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000; Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Operate Conveyance while Prohibited.

Nicole LEWIS, age 40 of Stouffville is charged with: Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000; Break and Enter x3 and Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

Both suspects were held for a bail hearing.

Police are urging rural property owners and construction companies to take extra measures to securing their property.

Investigators have laid charges against two male suspects in relation to a homicide in January of 2022.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, investigators from the DRPS Major Crime - Homicide Unit arrested and charged 19-year-old Kody LIM of Toronto with Second Degree Murder.

Twenty-five year-old Kody CUMMINGS of Peterborough was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact to the Offence of Murder.

Both males were held in custody.

One male suspect is facing charges after defrauding victims in a Grandparent Scam.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, the victims received a phone call from a male claiming to be their grandson who advised he was in trouble and needed bail money. Someone claiming to be an officer of the court then advised them that their grandson had been involved in a car accident injuring a pregnant female and $9,000 was required as bail. The suspect arranged for a “bondsman” or courier to pick up the money.

Having been the victims of the same scam earlier in the month, the victims immediately contacted police. Investigators from the DRPS Financial Crimes Unit attended the area and were able to arrest the suspect without incident.

Further investigation connected the suspect to another incident less than an hour before in which the victims provided $9,000.

Jaaziah BRERETON, age 22, of MARKHAM, is charged with Fraud Over $5,000 x2, and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.

A two-year-old child is currently in hospital with life threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Ajax on Sunday evening.

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, at approximately 7:15 PM, officers from West Division were called to a residence on Williamson Drive East, for a two-year-old child that had been struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was reversing into his driveway when the child was struck. The child was transported to a Toronto-area trauma center with life threatening injuries.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Robbery investigators have arrested a suspect for an armed robbery in Blackstock.

On August 18, 2022, police executed a search warrant on a residence on Carnegie Beach Road in Scugog and later arrested the suspect in Scugog.

Cyle ALLEN, age 33, of Scugog is charged with: Robbery with Firearm; Disguise with Intent; Possess Weapons for Dangerous Purpose; Disobey Court Order and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators are looking for a suspect after a stabbing on Thursday evening in Oshawa.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, at approximately 11 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a stabbing incident near Simcoe Street and John Street. Officers located a 42-year-old male with injuries consistent with being stabbed. The male advised that he was involved in an altercation with the unknown suspect before being slashed.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. A second victim approached police and advised that he was sprayed in the face with a noxious substance during the altercation. The suspect fled on a bike.

The suspect is described as male, Black, 5'6" tall, in his 30s, short black hair. He was wearing a black tracksuit, red backpack and glasses.

A 40-year-old male pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a collision in Oshawa on Thursday evening.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, at approximately 4:17 p.m., members of Central East Division were called to Taunton Road West and Northbrook Street for a single motor-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who had been struck.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma center with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Taunton Road West when the collision occurred, the driver remained on scene and spoke to investigators.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

On Saturday, July 30, 2022, the two suspects entered a spa on Cochrane Street in Whitby. Both parties were observed on video surveillance entering the building and took a paint bucket from the construction site. The suspects then entered the washroom area and painted profanities on the mirrors.

The suspects are described as male, White, 20-22 years old, slim build with dark hair in a bun. The female is described as female, White, 20-22 years old, thin build, light brown/strawberry blonde hair. She was wearing a sports bra and sweatpants.

Police are looking for assistance in identifying suspect(s) after several incidents of graffiti were reported on commercial properties in Bowmanville.

On Saturday, August 13, after the hours of 11:30 p.m., the suspect(s) spray painted several commercial properties along Baseline Road, east of Liberty Street South. Several businesses had been spray painted with offensive language and symbols.

There are no suspect descriptors at this time; however investigators are looking for any video surveillance in the area that may assist with this investigation.

A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female are recovering from gunshot wounds after an accidental discharge.

On Monday, August 15, 2022, at approximately 4:25 p.m., members of West Division attended Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital after two individuals walked into the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers spoke with a female witness at the hospital who provided false information to police, which initially interfered with the investigation. Officers then attended a residential address on Booker Drive in Ajax where it was determined that the male accidentally shot himself and the female. Both parties were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

No individuals at the residence have a registered firearm or fi****ms license.

A 17-year-old male is now charged with Aggravated Assault and Discharge FirearmReckless to the Life or Safety of Another Person. He was held for a bail hearing.

A 45-year-old female, of Booker Drive in Ajax is charged with Public Mischief. She was released on an undertaking.

A motorcyclist has sustained life-threatening injuries after being involved in a collision with another vehicle on Friday night in Oshawa.

On Friday, August 12, 2022, at approximately 11:15 pm officers from the Central East Division were called to a serious two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Guelph Street.

A blue Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling eastbound and struck a grey Chevrolet Equinox travelling northbound within the intersection.

The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains in critical but stable condition. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was not injured.

Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

A drug investigation by members of East Division resulted in drugs, cash and a firearm seized in Bowmanville.

On Thursday, August 11, 2022, members of East Division Community Response Team concluded a local drug investigation after complaints of drugs being sold to minors in the community. Investigators arrested the suspect and executed a search warrant on West Scugog Lane in Bowmanville. Police seized a handgun, Canadian currency, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Enrique WILLIAMSON, age 23, of Clarington, faces numerous firearm-related offences, including: Adult Distribute Cannabis to a Young Person; Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, No Licence; Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Knowingly Not Holding a Licence; Contravention of Storage Regulations; Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (co***ne); Possess Illicit Cannabis; Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Investigators have had a seventh shooting victim come forward and police continue to investigate the shooting that injured seven patrons of an after-hours party in Ajax.

A seventh victim has recently come forward after seeking medical attention, the injuries were considered minor. Investigators continue to look for clues that would assist in identifying the suspect and suspect vehicle. Police are asking anyone who may have video or pictures from the night of July 31, into the early morning hours of August 1, 2022 to come forward.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black newer model Honda Civic with distinct rims.

An investigation by members of Central East Division resulted in drugs, ammunition and a firearm seized in Oshawa on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, members of Central East Division Community Resource Team concluded a local drug investigation near Dean Avenue in Oshawa. Police arrested the suspect who was in possession of a loaded handgun, ammunition and fentanyl (approximate street value of $80,000).

Glenford JOHNSON, age 36, of Ajax, faces numerous firearm-related offences, including Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized; Possession of a Prohibited Device; Possess Contrary to Order; Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of trafficking (fentanyl); Fail to Comply with Release Order x4 and Assault with Intent to Resist.

Police seized items in a drug investigation of an unlicensed cannabis dispensary in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, members of the Central East Division Community Response Team with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a second search warrant at “Oshaweed” an unlicensed cannabis dispensary on King Street West. Officers seized cannabis, cash and other cannabis products worth a combined value of approximately $25,000.

A 40-year-old male employee, of Oshawa is charged with Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling. He was released on an Undertaking.

An investigation by the Central East Community Response Team (CRU) has resulted in cash and drugs being seized in Oshawa.

On Friday, August 5, 2022, members of the Central East CRU Team concluded an investigation into a male who was trafficking drugs in downtown Oshawa. A Whitby male is now facing numerous charges as a result.

Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at his residence on Hickory Street in Whitby. The arrest and the warrant combined resulted in the seizure of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Co***ne and Canadian currency.

Shane DIAS, age 38, of Hickory Street in Whitby, is facing numerous drug related offences, including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 (Fentanyl). Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 (Methamphetamine) and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Co***ne).

He was held for a bail hearing.

A 15-year-old male has been arrested after stabbing another youth at a house party in Clarington.

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 1:05 a.m., members of East Division responded to a residence on Scottsdale Drive for reports of an armed person. Officers arrived on scene and located a young male suffering from stabs wounds. The victim was air lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious but stable condition.

A 15-year-old male was arrested a short distance away and is charged with Aggravated Assault; Assault with a Weapon and Weapons Dangerous.

He was released on an Undertaking.

Investigators are looking for a suspect(s) after a male was shot last night at a bar in Bowmanville.

On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m., members from East Division were dispatched to a shooting call at 89 King Street East. Officers arrived on scene and located a male suffering from a single gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police spoke with witnesses on scene and are looking to speak with a male who was observed fleeing the area northbound on George Street in a white vehicle.

Police are asking for anyone who was in the area that may have video surveillance or information to contact them immediately.

A 27-year-old male suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a motor vehicle in Whitby.

On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 8:50 pm officers from Central West Division were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Old Lake Ridge Road. The male was struck in the driveway of a residence and was pinned between two vehicles. He was transported to a Toronto Trauma Centre where he remains in life threatening condition. The driver of the motor vehicle remained at the scene.

Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. This collision is still under investigation.

Two male suspects are wanted after carjacking a pizza delivery driver in Pickering Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at approximately 1:50 a.m., members from West Division were called to the area of Foxwood Trail after a pizza delivery driver was robbed of his vehicle. As the victim was about to get out of his grey Toyota Corolla, he was robbed at gunpoint by two males. The suspects stole his cellphone and fled in his vehicle.

The victim didn’t sustain any physical injuries.

The suspects are described as male, Black, 22-25 years of age, thin builds. One male was armed with a gun.

A 63-year-old Oshawa male was critically injured Monday after being struck by a motor vehicle while riding his bicycle on King Street East near Central Park Blvd. in Oshawa.

On Monday August 1st, 2022 at approximately 6:54 a.m., officers from Central East Division were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist. A red Kia Forte was eastbound on King Street East from Ritson Road when it struck a cyclist on the roadway. The cyclist was thrown from his bicycle and was seriously injured.

The 54-year-old driver of the involved Kia remained on scene and was not injured in the collision.

Durham E.M.S. attended the scene and provided medical assistance to the cyclist. He was taken to Sunnybrook Health Science Centre in Toronto for treatment and is currently listed in critical condition.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Investigators are looking for a suspect after a convenience store was robbed in Oshawa.

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, at approximately 9:31 p.m., members of Central East Division were dispatched to 4 Seasons Convenience store on Wilson Road South. The male suspect entered the store, selected some merchandise and a verbal altercation took place prior to the clerk being assaulted. The suspect grabbed the merchandise and fled in a cream-colored sedan.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The suspect is described as male, White, 5’10” tall, medium build, short brown hair and glasses. He was wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts and black shoes.

The DRPS Human Trafficking Unit, with assistance from Niagara Regional Police, has concluded a months-long investigation and arrested two males.

The investigation began in February 2022 and involved a female victim who was being trafficked at an Oshawa hotel. On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, two males were arrested and charged accordingly.

Louizidor FENELON and Davontae EDWARDS, both age 19 of St. Catherines, have been charged with: Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Procuring/Exercise Control; Advertise Sexual Services; Traffic in Persons by Recruiting/Exercise Control; and Material Benefit Trafficking Person Over 18.

They were both held for bail hearings.

Officers located a 33-year-old male with injuries consistent with being stabbed. The male advised that he was involved in an altercation with the unknown suspect.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are looking for a suspect after a convenience store was robbed at gunpoint in Blackstock.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at approximately 10:05 p.m., members of North Division were dispatched to Penny’s Mini Mart on Old Scugog Road for an armed robbery. The lone suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and made a demand for cash. The suspect fled from the store to a silver/grey sedan.

The victim didn’t sustain any physical injuries.

The suspect is described as male, White, wearing a camouflaged jacket, blue jeans and a blue mask.

One suspect has been arrested and a second sought following a home invasion in Bowmanville last weekend.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at approximately 6:35 p.m., members of East Division responded to a home invasion at a residence on Regional Highway 2 in Bowmanville after two armed males forcefully entered the home. The suspects fled from the residence after learning that a 911 call was made. The suspects fled together on a motorcycle.

On Monday, July 25, 2022, members of Central East Division located one of the wanted suspects of the home invasion (ALBERS) operating a black BMW at Simcoe Street and Hall Street. The driver was arrested and a loaded handgun was seized from the vehicle. Two occupants also face fi****ms-related charges.

Paul TASKAS, age 50 of Oshawa and Jaiden RUTTAN-LUNAU, age 23, of Clarington have been charged with: Possession of Prohibited Firearm Knowing Not Holding a Licence; Unauthorized Possession in a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm. They were both released on Undertakings.

William ALBERS, age 27, of Clarington, is charged with numerous offences including: Uttering Threats; Disguise with Intent; Assault with a Weapon; Mischief Under $5,000; Fail to Comply with Undertaking; Point a Firearm x2; Use Firearm to Commit Indictable Offence; Break and Enter; Possession of Prohibited Firearm Knowing Not Holding a Licence; Unauthorized Possession in a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm. He was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators continue to look for the second home invasion suspect.

The DRPS is looking for assistance in identifying a suspect in a voyeurism investigation in Bowmanville.

On Thursday July 21, 2022 at approximately 10:00p.m., members of East Division received a call to attend the area of Green Road and Aspen Springs Drive in Bowmanville, for a male peeping through residential windows. The suspect was confronted by a witness but left the area before police arrived.

The suspect is described as male, white, 30-40 years. He was wearing brownish yellow pants and a hooded sweatshirt.

A 30-year-old male resident of Whitby has died as a result of a collision involving a single motor vehicle in Ajax overnight.

On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members from West Division responded to a fatal single-vehicle collision involving a grey Honda in a plaza parking lot in the

area of Salem Road and Rossland Road. It’s believed that the driver suffered a medical episode before losing control of the vehicle. The Honda struck a commercial storefront. The lone driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to assist with this investigation.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine if this collision was caused by a medical episode.
