February is Black History Month (BHM). We celebrate and honour Black leadership in the chiropractic profession.

We recently caught up with Dr. Kevin Marryshow (chiropractor, Northeast College of Health Sciences Board of Trustees member and OCA member) who shared his motivation for empowering Black and Indigenous communities in health care:

“Creating the Myodetox Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program (MELSP) has been one of the most impactful and fulfilling initiatives I've had the opportunity to develop with the support of my team and colleagues. Growing up, I didn't know if I had permission to occupy space because I didn't see people who looked like me in the health care industry. Access to tools and knowledge to make movement health a daily habit in underserved communities is critical. MELSP exists to support future Black and Indigenous leaders in health care to be of service through development, mentorship and financial aid.”
