Have your kids chosen their Halloween costumes yet?
Are you dressing up?
I love Halloween. I love getting dressed up - the challenge of coming up with an idea and thinking of creative ways to execute it without having to buy a store bought costume.
This year my girls want to be a dinosaur and a mouse. The dino costume is one we bought when my eldest was little and she still likes to wear. My daughter who wants to be a mouse has been a cat for the last 3 years. I bought her some mouse ears and a tail at value village and I will pull together the rest. Not sure what I will be this year. I’m open to ideas!
Let me know what you or your family members are being! I love to hear all the ideas.
This picture is of my sister when she was about 3. We went trick or treating at my grandparents that year because my family was moving houses. Not sure who did her makeup 🤣.
Thank you to all the participants in my contest this weekend! I appreciate you taking the time to give Frolic a follow, to tag your friends and to spread the word!

A few of the pieces that have been on the bench lately that are being put into production. These pieces all just need their final polishes and then they are off to my gemsetter to get their stones! I can’t wait to share the finished pieces.
Thanks so much to everyone who participated in my little giveaway and helped spread the word about my little business. Welcome to all those who joined in the fun, followed and played along. My girls had fun helping me fold all the entries and picking a winner tonight. They liked it so much they insisted we pick two winners instead of just one.

Pretty and petite. These pearl pendants are a favourite for customers young and old (I’ve sold them to 8 year olds, 80 year olds and everyone in between!). It’s a classic style your child won’t grow out of. A perfect necklace for everyday wear.
🌈 Under the Rainbow 🌈
Last week we had an amazing time exploring the 2 acre pool (the largest outdoor pool in Canada) at . It was overcast (as you can see in the photos!) but the girls still had so much fun swimming and playing in the splash pad. We enjoyed a lovely picnic with friends until the rains came. We will definitely be going back here for more exploring in the future!
We are back in the city after a week of family fun at the cottage. We spent our days swimming, playing in the sand, relaxing in the hammock, visiting the frog pond, picking wild flowers, reading books and living our best carefree, wild child lives.
We are home for a few days so that I can get some work done and then we are heading up north for a few more days of footloose and fancy free frolicking time!
We stumbled upon a Pick Your Own sunflower field today on the drive home from the cottage so naturally we had to stop. I can’t resist a sunflower field!
I managed to take a picture of Sophie wearing her pendant with her own handwritten name. It makes me happy every time I see how much she loves it and I love how unique it is to her. 🥰
Sweet, sweet summer.
This year is the first year Sophie has a summer break (her Montessori was year round) and so we decided to just have a lazy, old-fashioned summer as much as we can. She is in camp a few weeks but the rest of the time we are trying to just spend at the cottage and enjoy all the summer has to offer. We are looking forward to reading books and doing crafts, going on walks and swimming in the lake. We are just going to slow it down and enjoy frolicking about. I think that there will definitely be lots of moments that will turn into inspiration.
Two more initial pendants for two sisters 👯♀️. The M is Great Vibes Font. The I is Dancing Script Font. These pendants are customizable - choose your favourite metal and choose your favourite font for your perfect piece! 🥰
Favourite Jewellery Part 2 -
As a child I always remember my mom wearing this apple pendant. In my mind she never took it off. I never knew where she got it or why an apple until a few years ago when she gifted it to me and I finally thought to ask. She told me it was a gift to her from my father and that he gave it to her when they were younger because “she was the apple of his eye.” 😍
It is one of my most beloved pieces of jewellery and I wear it almost everyday.
Favourite Jewellery Part 1.
One of the pieces of jewellery with the most sentimental value for me are these diamond studs given to me by my Grammy before she passed away.
My Grammy used to let me look through her jewellery box when I was a kid. I absolutely loved looking at the pearls and costume jewellery, rings and earrings.
I have always been an anxious person and as a kid I would bit my nails down to the quick. One day when visiting my Grammy she struck me a deal. She said I could choose any piece of jewellery I wanted and when I stopped biting my nails she would give it to me as a reward. Naturally I chose the sparkly diamond studs (Honestly, I didn’t really know of their value. They were just probably the most sparkly!).
Unfortunately shortly after my Grammy got sick. In grade 2 I made my first communion. My Grammy gifted me the diamond studs even though I had not yet held up my end of the bargain. I made a promise to her and to myself that I wouldn’t wear the earrings until I quit biting my nails or until my wedding day.
I did eventually stop biting my nails - when I started to make jewellery! My hands were always dirty and gold and silver emery dust is not great for the teeth. 😬. And even though I don’t bite them I still don’t have any nails 🤣.
The first pieces for The Secret Garden collection have been designed and are in the prototype phase. I can’t wait to see them cast into metal!
I am currently in the design phase of the first collection for Frolic. Can you guess the inspiration from the first photo? Swipe to find out. It is one of my favourite books from my childhood. Then see my next post for a sneak peak at some of the first designs that will be going to casting!
