Still want to keep competitive fishing before the boats go away. is hosting a Great Event out of the st catherines area. Which is always been a traditional Labour Day weekend of stager fishing. Always great getting those last few weekends of fishing in before the season wraps up. Justin will be putting together a 5 fish Calcutta for those teams, that like to put a bit more on the line to fuel the competitive spirits.

Jim Hurlburt 32.04 Jim's fishing expedition near the Newcastle area today caused quite a stir. It appears that Jim embarked on a solo adventure and stumbled upon an impressive 32.04-pound staging Chinook salmon. This image resonates well as this couple are not as good as the younger folk with the technology we live in nor the social media and pictures sharing processes. But this age old timeless photo of a proud gentleman behind his great catch never gets old. whether it’s from a Polaroid camera or the latest i phone.

My introduction to Jim and Ginny happened during the inaugural year of the Silver Salmon Challenge. Both Jim and Ginny weren't quite adept with our new online ticket system. However, a lively and enjoyable conversation ensued as I assisted them in navigating the process. It's safe to say that our interaction left a lasting impression. Our paths crossed again today after I reached out to Jim upon hearing about his incredible catch and we caught up from where we left off years ago.

While I won't divulge the exact age of this accomplished angler, it's clear that fishing has been a lifelong passion for him. From his days lobster fishing on the east coast to his present pursuit of salmon, Jim's affinity for the water remains unwavering. In his retirement, he has channeled his creative energy into crafting remarkable salmon woodcarvings.

Even though Jims fish falls short by just 0.1 pounds compared to the leading $50,000 contender, Jim's reaction was remarkably composed. He casually mentioned that he has the rest of the week to do that .

Congratulations to Jim for his exceptional catch. It's a remarkable achievement that underscores the excitement of fishing and the lasting connections it fosters.

This great cause is back again this year, we’ll be accepting donations this weekend in cobourg at the king of the lake tournament, cash and tackle donations welcome. Just drop by the SSC trailer.

The SSC will be out in Cobourg Ontario this Friday, July 11 competing in the king of the lake tournament. We will have the SSC trailer for those looking to pick up prizing or grab some swag. We will be located at the Cobourg Marina lawn from 3 till 5 PM do swing by if you’re in the area

 We went out to verify Team Rousseau’s 32.14 incredible catch. The tail on this fish really stood out as it’s just about as wide as a 120 cooler. Still silver and a well proportioned fish. Team Rousseau is at it again weighing in our new $50,000 leader 32.14. Daniel Toledo caught this monster while on board a fishing charter with the Rousseau team Well done!

Week 7 began with an eventful and rainy weekend. Matt Parent took the lead for the $50,000 grand prize with his impressive 29.38 catch in Port Credit. Bjoern braved the elements on Saturday morning and found a nice 28.76 catch in the Whitby area. Meanwhile, Micheal Fox weighed in its twin, a 28.72 catch from the pen derby in Whitby waters as well. It seems like big fish are scattered along the entire north shore this weekend, making Week 7 shaping up to be a thrilling one!

We’ve had a top spot leaderboard change this morning. Matt Parent of has weighed in a 29.38 out of port credit. Nice Fish!

Things seem to be changing out there in week 6. Fish are greening and seemingly heading home. Shallow bite has picked up while stager fishing is quickly approaching. weighed in a 27.10to take Big Fish Friday while securing 10th spot. Look forward to see what week 7 brings. Looks like a wet start but not enough to keep us off the water

We will be holding a central prize ceremony for our central winners on Friday, August 4 at Bluffers park marina between 3pm and 5pm. Team energy will be participating in the and will be set up with the swag trailer along with Event prizing. We will be located at the north end of the parking lot near the party dock and travel lift.
