youtube.com 10:30 AM- Noon Abolition or death: Confronting police forces in Canada
Hey everyone,
Thanks to everyone who brought up important questions and concerns about this group. Decolonize Davenport is a brand new group that was born out of a local response to police violence through the Defund the Police Rally in Dovercourt Park in July. We just finished having a group meeting between the organizers to discuss these issues. We acknowledge that these topics are sensitive, so we are taking the time to write a proper response. We will be sharing this statement before the week is over.
Thank you for your patience, as this is the first time our group has dealt with this kind of issue. We are grateful to be in this community and continue this work.
In solidarity,
Decolonize Davenport

Self Care to Communities of Care | Travis Heath | TEDxMSUDenver
Part of the work we want to do in Decolonize Davenport is to go beyond our systems of society. Where we put more importance to individualistic care like self care than we do with systemic care like having communities of care.
We focus on finding the disorder in a person instead of the systems causing the disorder. Blaming the ‘criminal’ before examining what conditions that confronted their identity, led them to that singular action.
We ask marginalised peoples to self care their way out of social equity. How absurd is that?
Can we get to a point where we can say, “Your care is bound up in mine and mine in yours. “
Would highly recommend you watch this talk.
