Videos by Ann Sirenko, Registered Holistic Nutritionist in Toronto. I help individuals go from exhausted, bloated and unable to lose weight to feeling confident and full of energy!
My friend Erica used to feel really tired, sluggish and had brain fog regularly yet she never correlated it to a hidden food sensitivity (gluten in her case). She did lots of work to heal her gut and has had incredible results - she feels more energized, clear headed and looks amazing! The other day she had a “gluten feast” and her body gave her a clear signal that gluten was still a no food for her (in larger quantities). When you’re regularly eating inflammatory foods and/or foods that you’re sensitive to your body will communicate to you via symptoms. It can be really hard to figure out on your own as symptoms can range so much person to person and can show up as late as 72 hrs after you ate the food. It’s common to experience headaches, fatigue, bloating, constipation, upset stomach, joint pain, eczema, acne and so much more! When you cut out the offending food for a period of time and then re-introduce it you can really see the impact the food has on you, as @ericaequinn shared! Thanks @ericaequinn for sharing your story - I hope it gives some valuable insights to those who view this 💖 If you’re looking for personalized support with your gut health or fatigue DM me to set up a free into call!
Leaky gut can cause a vicious cycle of gut inflammation, food sensitivities and is one of the three factors that contributes to autoimmune conditions. Your intestines become permeable (I .e. Leaky) and allow food, bacteria, parasites and toxins to get into the bloodstream. Your immune system sees these substances as foreign invaders and goes after them (this is why someone can have food sensitivities to even healthy foods). This can set off an autoimmune reactions if these three conditions are present: 1. Environmental trigger (toxins, heavy metals, infection, virus, bacteria etc.) 2. Genetic predisposition 3. LEAKY GUT The idea is if you can heal one of those three things the autoimmune condition can go into remission. So what causes Leaky Gut to happen? Here’s a few examples: 👉🏼imbalance in gut bacteria (too much bad, not enough good) 👉🏼allergies 👉🏼infections 👉🏼parasites 👉🏼drugs such as Birth Control Pills, non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (wisely used to relieve pain, bring down fever, reduce inflammation), steroids, radiation 👉🏼alcohol can sterilize your gut 👉🏼putrefying foods due to poor digestive capacity 👉🏼Stress 👉🏼Pesticides 👉🏼Heavy metals etc. Book a free discovery call today to see how I can help! Easy at home test for digestive function using beets! If you’re concerned about gas, bloating, hormonal imbalances, excess cholesterol, toxicity and your gut microbes WATCH THIS!! Transit time is the amount of time food takes to pass from your 👄 to your 💩. Ideally it should take about 18-24 hrs. If it’s less, chances are you’re not getting a chance to absorb the nutrients from your food and if it’s more it could cause multiple issues like: ✔️gas and bloating from food putrefying in the gut ✔️reabsorption of toxins that should have been eliminated through your stool (reabsorbed toxins are way more harmful then they were originally) ✔️reabsorption of hormones that were ready to be eliminated leading to hormonal imbalances ✔️high cholesterol as the cholesterol isn’t being cleared through the stool efficiently ✔️dysbiosis in the gut leading to weakened immune system (~70% of immune system is in the gut) ✔️sluggish liver as it now has to process all of the extra toxins, hormones and cholesterol...leading to weakened digestion, fatigue, PMS and more! Are you convinced yet how important transit time is?! If so, here’s how to do the test: 1. Boil or steak some beets 2. Eat 1/2-1 beet and record time you ate it 3. Monitor your 💩 for red colour. When you see this go back and check time you are beer and do the math to figure out how long it took to make it through your digestive tract! Tip: if you only go 💩 in the mornings, I’d suggest to have the beet with your breakfast so you can see if it makes uts way out by next morning (which would be 24hrs) If you have any questions let me know below ☺️ #holisticnutritioncoach #digestionsupport #bloatingremedy #bloatedtummy #constipation #hormonebalance #hashimotosdisease #hypothyroid #functionalnutrition #functionalnutritionist #tummylove #guthealthy #bloatingproblems #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #nutritionfacts
