✨ Annuals:
Fertilizing: Continue feeding with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 2-4 weeks to keep those beautiful blooms coming!
Watering: Water deeply in the early morning to ensure the roots get enough moisture and to reduce evaporation.
🌼 Perennials:
Fertilizing: Give them a nutrient boost as needed, but avoid over-fertilizing to prevent heat stress.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Also, make sure you regularly remove weeds to prevent competition for nutrients and water, check your plants for pests and diseases, and take action promptly.

With the unpredictability of rain and periods of intense heat this summer, be sure to pay extra attention to how much water your gardens, planters, and hanging baskets are getting.

5 Summer watering tips:
1. Attach a watering wand or sprayer with a gentle shower setting to your hose or use a watering can to give your gardens, planters and hanging baskets a big drink.
2. Slowly water around the base of your plants to allow the water time to soak in. You could also consider using a soaker hose.
3. Add a 2” layer of mulch around the base of your plants. This reduces water evaporation, keeps roots cool, and reduces the amount of weeding required.
4. For trees, try a tree watering bag that slowly releases water.
5. Newly planted trees, shrubs and perennials need even more water than established plants.
