Moment of truth here! 🤧😩 I was so stressed on the morning of our wedding due to some last minute changes and things that were out of our control and unfortunately, I let that get the best of me. When I look back there are some things we could have done to prevent additional stress; however, there are some things you can’t control and I think it’s important to recognize the difference and move on. Because I care so much about you brides, I want to share these helpful tips to set your day up for success and avoid doing the mistakes I did. Here are things I would do differently: ✔️Get your things ready Make sure you have all of your things ready the night before like details you want the photographer to capture, steaming dresses, creating a playlist to keep you relaxed, getting the electronics ready, etc. What I wish I had done was tackling down the little things that could have been done the night before to prevent any stress on the morning of our wedding. ✔️Rely on your support system Let’s be honest, there might still be things to do on the week of your wedding. While, I had everything pretty much done, there were little details that had to be addressed and if you’re anything like me, recognizing when to ask for help can be a challenge. This is why you’ve heard me time and time again the importance of relying on your support system (those you trust) so that can alleviate some of that wedding stress. ✔️Take the last few days to relax Planning our wedding was for the most part fun for me, but there were moments that were so stressful. We were so tired and overwhelmed by it. I wish we had taken the time to relax, do some self care activities (especially the week of the wedding) and pour into ourselves before the hectic weekend. Now that I am in my 30s, I have a different perception of life and find joy in the little wins that bring me that much closer to my goals.For the past year, I have been talking about having a website but I had been putting it off because it wasn’t the right time. A few things I learned throughout my journey as a bridal makeup artist.→ Not every client is meant for you and not every client will like your work. The right clients will come to you.→ You don’t need to bring a ton of eyeshadow palettes to your gigs. A few good palettes can create a bunch of looks→ You don’t have to carry every single shade of foundation in one brand. I have a couple of shades in different brands. I am a solid foundation mixer 👐🏾→ You need to arrive 30 mins ahead of time for parking and set up. 15 mins is not sufficient. Depending on the location you are going to, sometimes it is hard to find parking and the time you offload your car and get to the designated suite you’re already behind schedule.
