This is my father Bob. An often sedate and quiet man prone to fits of passion - often at politicians he saw on TV. It was recently the 8th anniversary of his passing and I speak with confidence that he would share this feeling: ceasefire now. Ceasefire one month ago. A non-violent path is the only way forward, and has been humanity’s greatest challenge.
To respond to a heinous act by leveling the homes and ending the lives of civilians is unjustifiable. Every day this goes on a resolution becomes more distance. Palestinians deserve to live in safety and dignity just as Jews (my kin, my beloved) do too.

An Israeli ex-PM recently justified the current attacks by drawing a parallel to the bombing of Dresden during world war 2 - but that attack is one of the Allies’ most morally questionable decisions, turning at least one soldier who carried it out into a lifelong pacifist, and likely many more. It was not an event that should be repeated.

I do not know the answers to any of this, I just know that more innocents should not die for this.

Rest in peace to my father, to Deb Inglis, to those in Gaza dying every day because of where they were born, and to those killed in the attacks of October 7th.
