June is National Indigenous History Month. It is a time for all Canadians to reflect on the unique histories, sacrifices, cultures, contributions, and strengths of our First Nations, Inuit, and Metis Peoples, because only by understanding our past can we hope to create a brighter future.
National Indigenous History Month invites Indigenous Peoples to celebrate their history in the spirit of pride and preservation. For non-Indigenous Canadians, it is an opportunity to learn and show recognition of the role Indigenous Peoples have played and continue to play in shaping Canada.
Happy Pride Season!
Pride Month is celebrated nationally in Canada during the month of June. It is born out of the Pride movement, which began as protests against police brutality and unjust laws, and to push for equal rights and protections for 2SLGBTQ+ communities. These protests, which are still ongoing across the country, are often celebrated at Pride Festivals held across Canada both during and outside of June Pride Month.
Although this month is a great opportunity for allyship across the country, it is important that anyone who wishes to acknowledge Pride Month is an active ally to 2SLGBTQ+ communities throughout the year and not just in June.

Red Shirt Day of Action for AccessAbility and Inclusion is a day when people across Canada come together and wear red to create a visible display of solidarity: to show their support for disabled people and their families, celebrate the achievements of disabled Canadians, and to pledge their commitment to help create a fully accessible and inclusive society.
Red Shirt Day is an Easter Seals initiative and was first celebrated in 2019. It takes place on the Wednesday of National AccessAbility Week each year.
