Happy Canadian Mothers Day to all of our wonderful and amazing mothers, we hope you have an amazing day 🌺
We are delighted to announce Alex Kenny as the new Durham Ladies Manager.
Alex, from Dublin playing for St. Jude’s immigrated to Canada in May 2019. He has a professional background in Banking, Finance & Tech Sales.
Alex is a talented footballer and played a key role in winning the Senior Championship for Durham back in 2019.
Unfortunately, a short time after, Alex was involved in a biking accident that resulted in serious injuries to his knee, ACL, MCL & ATFL in his ankle. After undergoing surgery, he spent 2 years in Montreal where he found a passion for yoga. So much so, he is now studying to be a certified yoga teacher and has even started a new business venture -
Along with managing Durham’s Ladies this year, Alex is preparing to cycle across Canada this summer to raise funds for some amazing charities.
Durham Chairperson Aidan McGarrity says “We are delighted that Alex Kenny has accepted the ladies’ management role, the st Judes man who is recovering from a knee injury has decades of experience within the GAAand won a Toronto Senior Mens championship with our men as a player. Hopefully, he can repeat the trick as manager of our ladies.”
Player Representative Megan Seery adds “everyone on the team is delighted to have Alex as manager, we have had a few training sessions already and can’t wait for the season ahead”
A fun fact about Alex is that his party trick is that he can rock a skipping rope like Muhammad Ali!
Everyone at Durham wishes Alex the best of luck with the season ahead!
