I have always had a passion for alternative medicine and am excited to continue my passion with The Ginkgo Tree Herbal Apprentice program.
My future goal is to travel and continue to learn about herbs and alternative medicine.
A full moon is coming soon! And not only that, it's a blue supermoon (or a super blue moon) -- the biggest and brightest of the year.
Although it peaks on Wednesday night (EDT), this blue supermoon (or super blue moon) will appear full from Tuesday through Friday. So check it out tonight, and if the skies aren't clear, try again the following night!
Why is it blue? Because it's the second full moon of this calendar month.
Why is it super? Because it occurs during the moon's orbit's closest point to Earth.
Let the kids stay up late, set a reminder, and enjoy this amazing sight!
If you're looking for activities to do while you wait for the full moon to appear, check out our list of outdoor activities that kids can do in the dark:

At The Ginkgo Tree, we believe that access to natural healing is an inalienable right of all people. Herbal medicine has been used since time immemorial by all cultures, across every continent of the earth. Even today, countless numbers of people from across the world rely on herbalism and allied systems of traditional healing as their primary form of medicine. We believe that the use of herbs, and of all natural products, should not be made a criminal offence, or something that only the rich and powerful have a say over. And yet, efforts are underway by Health Canada to make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for many manufacturers of quality natural health products (NHPs) to provide their services to the Canadian public. The proposed changes to the regulation of NHPs in Canada will impose undue costs on manufacturers, costs that have no precedent or justification whatever. These changes will force many of the local and small scale suppliers of herbs and supplements that you rely upon to permanently close, as well as completely barring access to the industry by up-and-coming, hardworking, dedicated entrepreneurs. If passed, these changes will ensure that the future of herbal medicine in Canada will not be grassroots and local, but corporate and industrial.
The long and short of it is that we are on the precipice of a takeover of the natural health products industry by global corporate interests - by those who have little to no regard for anything other than monopoly and profit. The range of available health products will be significantly decreased, and the care that many healthcare practitioners will be able to provide to their patients will consequently suffer. Your freedom of choice will be restricted, and your rights to seek out natural healing options pushed further out of reach. We encourage our readers to become involved in the ongoing to campaign to stop these changes before it is too late. What Health Canada is proposing will change the face of natural healing practices in Canada, and is an affront to traditional systems of healing and those who rely upon them for their health and well-being. If passed, these proposed regulatory changes will undermine our fundamental human rights to freely seek out the bounteous medicines of the earth. More information concerning this issue, and suggestions as to how you can get involved, can be found through the following campaigns:

I am so happy I decided to start this journey, this has offered me so much more in my life than I ever could have imagined. I had the opportunity to work along side Penny The Ginkgo Tree I could not have asked for a better teacher/mentor and allowing me to be a part of such a beautiful sanctuary the work she does there is incredible. I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from so many inspiring people and built friendships that have challenged and changed my views on the world and will always have a place in my heart.
A big thank you to everyone who has followed along and supported me through this journey, I look forward to continuing to share and grow with you.
This is so important, find progress in each day. It is so much easier to look at all the negative that surrounds us, I challenge you to sit down at the end of each day and write down 3 positive things about your day, keep this list going and when you are feeling overwhelmed with negative thoughts read this list and remember the progress you have made.

Ending with a picture of a lady slipper that is not in bloom but an appropriate picture before our key note Christine Dennis had an incredible story to tell about this lady slipper plant, quit the character that lady slipper is. Yesterday, I spent the day in class building a relationship with nervine herbs and learning all about our reproductive hormones. It is such an incredible thing to learn about the human body and to experience how herbs work and feel. Our bodies are incredible things, as are the plants around us!
That being said, I dropped the ball on an earth day post. Thankfully, these amazing ladies took the time to write about the best practices for herbalism; this is such an important subject for anyone using herbs. With spring here and the plants starting to wake up, this is the best time to remind yourself of these practices and use them every day.
