Please join us in welcoming Alayne Jackson, the newest member to join our team:
🌳 Alayne is from the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.
🌳 She has 3 kids, 1 Shih Tzu and 3 cats.
🌳 She is an avid home gardener, experimenting with less commonly grown greenhouse plants. This year she’s trying peanuts, stevia and scotch bonnet peppers!
🌳 Her background includes a business degree and a certificate in risk management and 15 years of experience in small business development.
Trees will grow almost anywhere in Nova Scotia, including old fields and forest sites that have been harvested. As long as there are good seed sources – either from standing trees or from seeds that have been buried in the top layers of the soil – trees will flourish.
The Crown Lending Agency has proven that for over 100 years we stand with Nova Scotia businesses, through all industry cycles.
How Does a Forest Grow?
A forest grows much like a garden. When there are a lot of trees, they compete for light, water and nutrients. The result of too much competition is a lot of slow-growing trees of moderate timber quality. When there are too few trees, growth potential is lost, and much of the growth is concentrated in young seedlings, again of varying quality. In either case, the forest is not producing timber at its maximum potential.
