Had a chance to work on a few things today that have been prepped for completion.
Turned a nice decorative pen cup for holding pens and such.
Still on the chuck waiting for a few things to dry before finishing the interior.
Really like the way it turned out! This one is teal with walnut. Have a red resin and walnut one that I’ll spin this weekend!
Also finishing a dozen sets of coasters in multiple colors.
Busy busy busy😉
Still have a few “This is where I Murder vegetables” boards left it anyone is interested.
Please send me a PM.
$25 each.
Was very honoured to be asked to make some awards.
Correctional Officer badges encased in resin, within walnut and epoxy inlays with laser etching.
I heard that the recipients loved them! Always feels good to hear that!
Now back to getting tables prepped ant the other wild projects that people have been approaching me with
Fired up the laser and made a little something this morning😂😂😂
Practicing making tops always seems to interest everyone at the shop!
Always fun handing the colored sharpies out and letting them color them!
Some of the pieces that have left the shop over the past few days...
The smiles and messages that I received from the recipients of these always makes it worthwhile.
Gearing up to do some new artsy pieces and prep work to get some tables poured.
.. no rest for the wicked they say😂
The joys of finishing epoxy resins!!!😂😂😂
Coasters Galore!!!
13 new sets sanded and prepped for their final touches, with another 12 sets being prepped for pouring!
Would love to hear some color suggestions!!!
Was a good night to finish up some Charcuterie Board orders...
Let them soak up all that food safe oil overnight that was just applied to them!
Tomorrow night is coaster finishing time.
Clear up some of these orders and time to get started on some Dining room tables!
Sanding, sanding and more sanding this weekend!
Colourful night in the shop!
Doing some finishing on a large batch of coasters. Will post those in the next couple days!
Getting some Charcuterie boards ready for their final sand and edge work... loving all of
them! Lots of great character in that walnut, amazing grain patterns in the olive wood and am impressed with the new “Mint Green” color!
Sharpened some lathe tools and made a few more tops for practicing the techniques and also to try out the new colored sharpies... Have it down to a science now! They almost make themselves😂😂😂
It’s not just creating all the pieces in the shop. It’s also maintaining tools and equipment to make it all happen.
Really happy to be able to build a sharpening station for the lathe chisels. Should be cutting through everything like butter now!
Already thinking about attending a few markets this spring and summer if Covid allows.
I’ll be doing some LIVE woodturning demos at the booth turning wooden tops and other smaller items to entertain the peeps and help make their shopping experience a little more enjoyable😉
Holy Coasters Batman!!!
Getting that run of coasters out of the way before I start tackling the big stuff!
Things are getting BIGGER and BETTER at the shop.
New pieces of Walnut that will transform themselves into a table in the near future.
Pretty excited to see the progress and the finished project!
Can’t wait to see what beauty lies within these wood and resin pieces. Need to free up some time to get these on the lathe and start digging in.
Coffee Beans in red resin and copper accents on figured maple.
Blue resin, river style, sandwiched between Clario Walnut.
Getting back to pouring some more boards and coasters.
The first of the 24 coaster set run that I’ll be doing over the next couple of weeks. Black on White Oak and Red on Black Walnut to fulfill an order! If you’re interested in a set and have a color in mind please let me know!
Also really happy to get this olive wood board poured, I think it will look pretty sure with that beautiful grain!!! What do you think the next color should be for the next olive wood Charcuterie Board?
Turned out being a busy Sunday!
Nice newborn’s name CNC cut for his room. If anyone is ever in need of custom name any words for their home decor. Make sure to contact us!
Lots of prep for upcoming projects such as a run of 20 sets of coasters. Even managed to turn a quick pen to see what some of these new wood species I’m experimenting with look like. That “Purple Heart” sure does POP!
So many natural colors in different species of wood.
Using some small pieces of Purple Heart, Padauk, Wenge, Olive, Ebony, Yellow Tatar’s, and Indian Rosewood to create some nice color combinations for some pen blanks to turn some nice pens between other jobs!
So amazing to see the different end grain patterns on these woods too. Certainly fuels my creativity!
Busy night pouring a number of things that were prepped in the last few days!
The lamps are finally poured and looking great! Also the resin and Clario Walnut lathe blank is definitely starting to pop!
Now it’s time to just sit and wait a few days for some things to cure!
Time to focus on some of the bigger projects and fulfill some of those coaster orders!
Some action in the large vacuum chamber tonight. Sucking all the air of the resin and wood for bubble
Free resin and good wood adhesion. Will be chucking this in the lathe in a few days! Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!
Back at making some Charcuterie Boards!!!
Also experimenting by mixing some coffee beans with figured maple!
Will be a few sessions in the vacuum chamber with multiple soaks but excited to see what the finished piece will look like!
Took some time to help my friend’s son with his shop project. Due to Covid the kids had to fend for themselves as they are not attending school and doing their work from home.
In today’s society of instant gratification and kids glued to their phones, it felt really good to see his enthusiasm and his smile when he finished his piece.
He actually enjoyed it so much that I’ll do another small project with him.
Was pretty proud of him when it was done!
Happy New Year!!! Wishing everyone nothing but great things for 2021!
As the New Year starts its time to get back to work and start making sawdust!
Found myself getting ready for the first resin pours and prepping wood to get the new orders underway!
Was able to open up some olive wood! Loving that grain pattern! Have some scrap that I’ll be turning into a few pens! Excited to see the results of that!
Also had the chance to square up some ebony and Indian rosewood (which had a very distinct and spicy smell when cutting) for some pens also.
Some molds for some other fun projects are being completed today too.
Should see some fun and interesting things coming out of the shop in the next few weeks!
Banksia nut boil cured enough to take it out of it’s mold!
Looking pretty good although I was a little concerned of overheating such a thick pour.
Can’t wait to see what kind of beauty lies within this! Will need to wait a few days for it to fully cure before I do that though.
Boiling a Banksia Nut in resin within a vacuum chamber.
Should be an interesting outcome!
