Holistic trauma informed therapies. We are on a mission to guide others to become self healers.
What we need to know about spiritual bypassing (and why it’s something we should avoid).
So often, I have clients who are active in the spiritual community… yet are still struggling more than ever. For many, embodiment work is the missing link. The human experience is way too critical for our sustainable transformation to be overlooked!
Why did I make the leap from being a clinical counsellor practicing CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) to body-based somatic work? 👇
💙 Firstly, there is absolutely a need for all different types of therapy modalities, including CBT! But during my own health journey and my time as a clinical counsellor, I also realized the importance of turning inwards for sustainable transformation. Our lack of body awareness is why when one unhealthy behaviour stops, another one takes its place.
💙 Whether our struggles are around addiction, food, our body image, and/or everything else in between, these behaviours are never the real issue. They are symptoms, a response to a nervous system that doesn't feel safe. They’re a response to a child that never felt attended to, seen, loved or understood. And where do we find these parts of ourselves? In our body!
💙 For years and years, I had gone from counsellor to counsellor, treatment centre to treatment centre, struggling with a chronic eating disorder, anxiety and depression. Sustainable transformation didn’t happen until I listened to what my body had been (and still is) telling me. I also began to embody a way of being that continues to be so much more fulfilling than simply day to day life in recovery.
Because I began to live from a place of creation.
I began to live a life on my terms.
I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for somatic modalities like breathwork, understanding and meeting my nervous system where it was at, and getting to know my different parts and where they were hitching a tent in my body.
Sounds a little ironic, but my desire for a clear cognitive mind came to fruition only after I started living and operating through the body rather than the mind.

Why is it so crucial that your therapist or coach be the right person for you?
Think about it.
This is someone you’re trusting with your inner wounds, your messy parts… your incredibly, incredibly brave vulnerability. You’re trusting them with perhaps your truest self.
Finding best fit in your therapeutic relationships means finding one of your strongest advocates and best allies. But every human being on this planet is unique. It’s only natural that there are some people you get along with, who complement you, more than others.
When I work with people, it’s important that there’s harmony. It’s like a collaborative dance where my nervous system can begin co-nourishing yours to provide you with the best possible experience and fulfill your intentions for every single session together!
When you’re in a therapeutic relationship where both parties are able to build mutual understanding and trust, you strengthen the foundation for your own authentic, long-term healing.
We know how important best fit is for your healing journey. That’s why our 1:1 integrative healing sessions at The Self-Worth Lounge start with a free 30-minute consultation – a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where we can learn more about each other before any commitments are made. And if together we find that your path of true healing involves guiding you elsewhere, then that’s exactly what we can do for you!

to my interview last September on Hannah Wiz's wonderful podcast, Empowering Vibez!
In this episode, I share how I healed my eating disorder after 16 years of struggle, the power of breathwork, and how to build your self-worth to feel valued and loved.

Healing isn’t always about becoming the best version of yourself. Healing can also be about recognizing the worst versions of self, complete with all the messy parts, the parts struggling with uncertainty… and still telling them, “You are seen” and “You deserve love and grace.”
When we can come to a place of self compassion for every part of ourselves, that’s when we know we are walking on the path of healing.
Interested in parts work but not sure where or how to get started? Registrations are still open for our upcoming 6-week online workshop, Awakening Your Inner Healer, where you will be guided through parts work, other practices of self compassion, and potent somatic strategies.

Hi there! 👋 If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably have a sense of who I am.
But you might have wondered what some of those titles after my name mean, and how they allow me to guide people on their healing journeys. So here we go!
❤️️ R.H.N stands for Registered Holistic Nutritionist, which is the designation used for Holistic Nutritionists in British Columbia. Generally, Holistic Nutritionists refer to those who have completed education from a recognized institution in nutrition-related fields, and then applied for professional qualifications from organizations like the Canadian Association of Holistic Nutrition Professionals.
❤️️ Clinical Counsellors are specifically trained to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. For my clients, this may take the form of insights into existing challenges, emotional relief, new skills and tools, and more.
❤️️ A Pause Somatic Coach (in training) guides clients through body-based practices, liberating them into deeper states of embodiment by facilitating energetic transformation. Pause Somatic Coaches are certified after a 6-month training program. This is what I’m currently working towards to deepen my ongoing somatic experience work!
❤️️ A Breathwork Facilitator is someone who is trained and certified to guide people through conscious breathing techniques. Everyone’s healing journey is unique. As a facilitator, I provide knowledge and guidance to clients while creating a space where they can engage in a way that works for them.
❤️️ A Certified Mind-Body Nutrition and Dynamic Psychology Coach is trained in clinical nutrition, body-centered practices, mind-body science and practical coaching techniques. This designation is rooted in compassion and focuses on the psychological roots of our relationship with food and body. As someone who fought a 16-year battle with eating disorders, I fully believe that the path to true healing involves transforming our belief system.
❤️️ E-RYT 200 stands for Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. Different from a RYT, an E-RYT 200 is someone who not only completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training (that is registered with Yoga Alliance) but also taught for at least two years after completing training.
If there’s anything else you’re curious about, feel free to leave your question in the comments! 😊
You might already be familiar with the idea of breathwork, so what do I mean by breathwork therapy? 👇
While breathwork refers to a somatic practice involving the conscious control of breathing (of which there are various techniques and exercises), I love the term “breathwork therapy” for the way it emphasizes breathwork as one of the most powerful healing modalities for emotional, mental health, and spiritual transformation.
It also refers specifically to embodiment and the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system – bringing you into your body, rather than taking you out of it (i.e., a disembodying effect), which a lot of other breathwork practices do.
Potential benefits of breathwork include, but are absolutely not limited to:
➡️ Grounding and stabilizing the mind and body
➡️ Better mental focus
➡️ Release of stress hormones in your body
➡️ More restful, deeper sleep
➡️ Stronger immune system
➡️ Nervous system regulation
When we bring in a somatic healing experience to our practice, we are capable of shifting on a cellular level. No matter where you’re at or what has happened in your life, we believe full heartedly that you were created with everything you need to heal and thrive. What breathwork therapy does is help cultivate a deeper connection with your body so you can tap into this innate potential.
That’s why breathwork therapy is a core part of our upcoming 6-week online workshop, Awakening Your Inner Healer. In these weekly sessions, you will be guided through different breathwork practices and other potent somatic strategies – so by the end of those 6 weeks, you have greater access to the wisdom and healing capabilities of your own body.

Happy International Women’s Day! 💃
Personally, this day is both a recognition and reminder that women are fully capable of achieving anything we desire. Starting and running my own businesses as a woman has challenged every belief I’ve ever had about myself, but all these experiences – the joys and the challenges – have become an extension of myself and my growth as a human being.
P.S. – In case you missed it, registrations are now open for the 6-week Awakening Your Inner Healer workshop! Spots are limited, so sign up today by visiting https://www.theselfworthlounge.com/somatic-workshops

How many times have you heard (or told yourself) the phrase, “Fake it ‘til you make it”?
A lot of people get stuck on upholding the appearance of confidence. It seems like sound advice for those of us who don’t feel confident naturally. And don’t get me wrong! Faking it can totally be helpful sometimes. But over the long term? Constantly forcing ourselves to perform confidence can be draining, both physically and emotionally.
That’s why I love this work. I fully believe that a body-based approach to healing is our future. Instead of temporary fixes that dysregulate our nervous system, we create within ourselves the foundation we need for authentic and sustainable transformation! 🌱
I’m still gushing over this kind review from one of my lovely clients! 😊
Jocelyn shares her experience of our 1:1 comprehensive healing sessions, where we explored her physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual spaces. The healing modalities we focussed on during our time together were pranayama breathwork, inner child work, and intuitive tarot readings.
Healing can feel lonely, but it doesn’t (and shouldn’t) have to be. That’s why I love the community we’re building for those who are choosing to go inward and heal their lives from the inside out.

Have you ever had moments where your emotions felt like “too much”?
It’s really important to acknowledge that the experience of an emotion is not what leads to difficulties. After all, having emotions is just part of being human! What makes them start feeling unbearable is the story we give them. It’s our interpretation of these emotions that tends to amplify them to the point of struggle.
So next time you sense yourself being overwhelmed by emotions… give yourself permission to take a step back and pause. Focus on your breathing and bring your awareness to the body’s sensations to begin creating safety in the body. From this inward space, ask yourself what meaning you might have given to this emotional experience.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my own healing journey, it’s that the healing process is rarely, if ever, linear.
Believing in the truth of your progress can be hard. Sometimes, it might even feel impossible. I know because I’ve been there too. But something I truly believe is that sustainable transformation begins when we work towards embodying the Self… and that includes all parts of ourselves, even the ones that feel messy and unsure.
So here’s a personal reminder for the harder days:
Sometimes your best will look very different from other days. Sometimes your best is getting out of bed, showering, and eating. But no matter which direction you think you’re moving in, know that your body will ultimately lead you forward. ❤️️
Does anyone else have a supplement that they swear by?! Personally, magnesium has made a huge positive impact on my emotional and mental health, and it’s the supplement that I would absolutely recommend if you struggle with regulating your emotions.
Let me tell you why. 👇
Magnesium is actually one of the essential minerals for a healthy nervous system, and it helps to induce a relaxation response. When you’re deficient in magnesium, it may inhibit several neurotransmitters that support signal transmission between nerves.
And what can happen when you struggle with emotional regulation? Lack of energy. Sleep problems. Higher irritability levels and mood fluctuations.
If you’re considering magnesium supplements, make sure to do your own research and consult your doctor or pharmacist to find the right type and dosage for you as they can act differently in the body depending on your needs.
Everyday I'm beautifully reminded that I am the antidote to any chaos that arises in my mind. I am my own remedy.
Suffering can only exist when we are unwilling to feel the pain.
We need to actually do less and become better feelers to transform and ascend into the human we desire to be in the world.
It ALL STARTS WITHIN. The addictive behaviours, substance abuse, escaping with work, codependency, food and body challenges, control, lying, cheating, etc… it’s all just asking us to go within. To go deeper and to just simply be. To breathe into the spaces we feel tension and honour the messy parts of ourselves.
We have an entire preschool of children within us and these parts are screaming for our attention. They need airtime, they need the conscious adult version of us to say “Hi, I’m here, you’re safe and you’re loved”
The opposite of suffering is connection with the self.
We can’t meet our true self through the mind, we can’t think our way to connection. Our true essence flows through our entire body, it can be accessed through the heart space and has the power to dissolve all fear of any kind. Only from this place does the mind follow, clarity arise, suffering end and we can begin to make choices for our highest potential.
Next time you feel yourself reaching for something to distract, numb or control, be courageous enough to pause for a moment and tap into the younger self that is asking for your attention. Get to know them, ask them about their fears, needs and desires. Meet with them daily and watch your inner and outer world transform.
If you feel called to this deep work, we begin our 6 week "Accessing Your Inner Healer" workshop Feb 5, 2023! This is a somatic focused practice where you will be guided to experience the most empowering and transformative experience of becoming your own self healer.

Have you been feeling the energetic shift lately?! The planet is evolving in the most potent way and people are waking up quickly! How we do things is changing, the veil is thin, truths are being exposed and the outdated narrative of control and power conquers all is finally collapsing.
So yes, this month is especially heavy as our shadow sides are bubbling to the surface. Depending on your level of consciousness and planet positions (check your natal chart), people will feel it a little differently.
It’s so important we take rest, especially this month so we can take inspired action when needed in the upcoming year.
This new world we are waking up to is less about doing and more about unlearning, reprogramming and living from a place of authenticity and integrity. In other words, it's time to drop the ego, and if you’re struggling to do that, the universe has a brilliant way of stepping in and helping you out with that! Either way, these shifts and changes will always be for your highest good!

The work and its tools will look a little different for everyone. The core of what we do is both guiding and teaching a daily pranayama breathwork practice, meeting and healing our inner child, and a complete reset of the nervous system.

Breathwork is one of the most powerful healing modalities for emotional, mental health, and spiritual transformation. Breathwork is a body-centered practice where a trained practitioner guides the client through different conscious breathing techniques. It’s within these sessions our clients are able to repair and build a more resilient nervous system, access altered states of awareness, and cultivate a deep connection with their body. Our group or 1:1 sessions provide a safe place where each client can feel and release stored tension and subconscious emotions, in return, creating immense clarity and peace within.
