"Immigrated to Canada from the capital city of India, New Delhi. I Started off as an Economics major for my bachelors but a chance elective selection landed me in an intro course for Media and society with Dr. Kyle Asquith. There was no looking back for me from there on, and in the following semester, I shifted to a double major in Economics, and Communications, Media, and Film. I had found my passion! The international Student Centre played a quite a significant role. From ensuring my smooth onboarding, to making me aware of important campus resources, and redirecting me to the same whenever I needed was truly helpful. (Fun fact, I also worked at the ISC for two years, during my 3rd and 4th year! ) I also found the Leddy library extremely helpful too. Their online book search tool is amazing, and it often saved me the pain of walking across campus only to find the book was loaned out. I had a blast working while studying at the university! I remember, back in the day it used to be called “The Work-Study” programme! My first appointment was as a front-desk student at the ISC. I saw it as a way of giving back to the student community in the same way someone had helped me on my first day at the ISC during Soft-landing. My other internship placement was at CBC as part of my CMF Curriculum. I think that really gave me a perspective on how well my skills translated into the real world and how much I needed to learn on my own beyond the classroom to flourish in an ever-evolving world."
"Past four years at UWindsor have been rewarding and an incredible learning experience. The undergraduate research and leadership opportunities have been the highlight of my time at UWindsor. These taught me some amazing interpersonal, advocacy and problem-solving skills. These opportunities plus the Career Development Centre really helped me prepare for the job market. The International Student Centre and all other departments on campus were very accommodating and helpful in my transition to a new country. I’ve also had many chances to connect with domestic students and I am so glad I chose Canada and UWindsor for my studies" - Sumeet #UWindsor #StudyinCanada #Studyabroad

I came to Canada from Indonesia. I arrived in Toronto, and then travelled to Windsor. I was enrolled in Master of Management in the International Accounting and Finance stream. I have a Bachelor of Psychology degree and total of seven years' work experience in a bank (Commercial Banking and Retail Banking). Odette Career Services was very helpful, they prepared me to build a strong resume, proper cover letter, and how to perform well during the interview process. My advice would be to stay persistent and consistent while applying for a job, because finding employment is a journey, not a one-week effort. Never surrender even when facing adversity and challenge, if you keep working at it, one day you will succeed.
