We get questions about exporting guns to the US from Canada so it's time to write up an article we can refer people to. I'm going to simplify some of the finer details and "self service" parts in this post just to save on length, if you have questions - feel free.
- There are a number of importers who will do the whole process, even list the gun for sale or put it up at an auction. Only problem is that they will engrave the gun with the name and address of the importer. This obviously devalues anything collectible. We are happy to refer you to one such importer if you want.
- Our method does not engrave the gun but it is more involved on your part. If you want minimal effort - use a full service importer and live with the import engraving.
- If you want to also receive the guns in the USA you have to be able to show residency status (e.g. US driver's license and a US passport, greencard or a visa like a TN visa) - this is to pass the background check.
- If you are emigrating to the USA you can take the guns with you but you have to have your import paperwork approved before you leave (don't forget to put your ammo and accessories on it too), after you have entered the USA on your visa once you will have to go trough a FFL.
- If you have a C&R status (if you don't know what it is then you don't have it) you don't need a FFL to help you for C&R eligible guns, otherwise you will need your local FFL to fill out the Form 6 for you and submit to [email protected]
- Not all guns legal to possess in Canada are admissible to the US for permanent import. Non-sporting rifles (i.e. most AR-15), many Russian and Chinese guns and handguns that do not reach a minimum score on the 'factoring criteria' form will be denied. Feel free to send us a list and we can advise. Or even better ask the [email protected]
- To summarize - you yourself (if immigrating or have C&R) or your local FFL will need to submit the Form 6
- The approved Form 6 should be marked with a 'not for resale' clause - otherwise it will be marked with a clause requiring the importer engraving to be applied
- This form can them be submitted to the Canadian authorities (Dept. of Foreign Affairs and Trade) as part of the application for an export license. You can do it yourself or we can do it for you.
- Once you have both the approved Form 6 (import permit) and an export permit from Canada you can engage transportation
- If immigrating, pack the guns according to the Canadian transport requirements along with your belongings. CBP will take care of you at the crossing.
- If you want the guns shipped air freight, you _have_ to get us involved. Transport Canada requires a "Trusted Consignor" certification from anyone shipping guns by air to the USA. This can only be obtained by a business.
- If you want the guns shipped by LTL freight, you can do so yourself but this will only work for very large collections because of cost
- You will either have to hire a customs broker to deal with taxes and duties on your behalf or self-broker, when sending air freight this can be done at the arrival airport.
- A representative of your FFL will have to receive the shipment. In case of air freight this will involve being physically present at the airport terminal. The FFL can designate _you_ as that representative for your particular shipment.
- The FFL will then process the transfer of the firearm to you as usual.

Just got this lovely gun in and it is already sold...
Happy Monday everyone!
We were recently asked about collection storage at our facility - here is our fee structure and some notes:
1 yr or less 20/mo for the entire collection
More than a year - 10/mo
processing up to 10 guns - $50 (covers both receive and ship)
11-50 - 125
51-75 - 300
76-100 - 500
over 100 +6/gun
No charge for ammunition - within reason - if it takes up about the same footprint as the guns. I.e. your boxes will be at the bottom of the rack holding your guns. If it takes up extra rack space, we charge the processing fee by gun footprint it will take up. So, as an example, for 10 guns and same footprint ammunition for three years it would come out to 410 CAD + taxes.
You need to cover the shipping costs which might be expensive for ammunition - CanadaPost does not transport ammunition any more. If you are in Ottawa we can meet you. If you can get all the boxes on a pallet, send us the weights/dimensions of all boxes and we can get a transport quote from a licensed trucking company this will be cheapest for any sizable collection (around 200 hundred within Ontario) They pickup the pallet but the quote is for the weight and dimensions without the pallet. We can send someone to pick up if the situation is complicated legally (e.g. we are picking up from police custody) but at extra cost (time/mileage)
You should also prep the guns for long term storage - clean and grease for conservation - if you can't for any reason, you can send us a list and what condition they are in (e.g. pristine vs put away wet after hunting) and we can quote you the cost for our gunsmith to take care of that. We keep our storage heated (though not room temperature) with humidity under 50% (usually around 40%) but if it's going to be years, the guns need to be well greased. They will be stored unwrapped and standing up for long guns, laying on the back sine on a shelf for handguns. Ammunition and parts/accessories will be stored in whatever boxes you send it in - we will only open to check condition and inventory, then re-seal with straps.
We can take all classes of fi****ms and as long as the laws still allow for it we will return them (e.g. current OIC prohibs still allow for return to owner) - if the laws change and make it illegal to return the guns to you, we can export the guns for you (we are an exporter first and foremost) or do anything else legal at the time at your request.

Antique broomhandle Ma**er (c.96) for sale. Antique, no registration required.
Not matching, its value is in being antique with everything that comes with that. Fewer than a dozen antique classified in Canada so this is not an opportunity that happens often. Has a RCMP letter certifying antique class.
No stock.
Springs replaced with Wolff, can include originals too. Works flawlessly. Seems to have a bit of damage to the muzzle but does not seem to affect anything. Can be relined if you want, but not much benefit except cosmetic.
Those who want to ask for a serial in hopes of getting their own gun antique lettered - this one won't help you, this is one of the earliest of all the antique c96 in Canada, yours won't likely fall under it.

Webley mkII for sale. Antique class, no registration required.
Tiniest bit of slop in lockup, doesn't affect anything, can be fixed with a weld then filing but not really worth it in this condition.
Can provide a FRT printout - all mk II are antique. Can obtain a RCMP letter if the buyer wants one, will just take a bit of time.
One week non-shooting, non-disassembly inspection period, will take back for refund.
4750 + shipping + any insurance over 100
