Yoga Nidra is back after a long break!
The next event will be held in two weeks!!
Come experience the transformative power of this meditative practice.
What is Yoga Nidra?
The Sanskrit word Nidra translates to 'sleep', although Conscious Meditative Awareness is a more accurate description.
Yoga Nidra is a practice which gently illuminates the deepest corners of our subconscious mind. From here we can change old outdated belief systems, and work towards eliminating the root cause of suffering.
What to expect:
There will be some light physical practice and breathwork before the meditation so please wear comfortable clothing.
During the meditative portion you will be lying down on a mat (or sitting in a chair if lying down isn't comfortable).
We will have time for integration after the practice, so please bring a journal and pen.
Why should I practice Yoga Nidra?
During our lifetime we can accumulate and internalize false beliefs which can become more harmful to our mental and physical health as we age. Our mental state directly effects the quality of the interactions we have with others. But, because these beliefs get stored deep in our subconscious we often are not aware of them directly, only by the ripples they create. Yoga Nidra helps to unearth these beliefs and gives us the tools to change them.
At the very least, this practice is extremely relaxing. It’s not uncommon for someone to fall asleep during the meditation, and that’s ok, your subconscious is still listening! And often times, people will report “going somewhere”, this is totally ok too! It’s all part of the experience. See you soon!

The theme for this month’s Yoga Nidra should really be called trusting your inner wisdom. For essentially, in order to trust our path, we first must feel into our heart's wisdom to know the path.
For each person this inner journey will look completely different. This can be scary and for some, terrifying, to trust what is unfolding. We forget about our own uniqueness, getting caught up in comparisons, worries, the inner monologue of “I’m not good enough”.
We get sidetracked by thinking about what we think we ‘should’ be doing. This can easily turn into a spiral of overthinking; leading to creating and recreating of scenarios that may or may not ever materialize. We’ve all been there, it’s uncomfortable to say the least.
But what is the antidote for overthinking? Feeling of course!
Join me as we peel back the layers of these old, outdated patterns and become a witness to the unfolding of something truly amazing.
Event will be held on Friday

Beginnings
Sue Shanti Yoga is the culmination of a long dream to learn and teach yoga as a way of life.
Growing up with a mother who was sick with an unknown illness, who was determined to heal herself through natural methods and had the biggest heart I have ever known, had an incredible influence over my own path in life. She was the one who introduced me to energy healing at 14, who introduced me to meditation at 15 and was my biggest cheerleader in life. A lover of herbs, gardening, animals, and all things weird and ‘new age’, her seemingly endless library of books on self help, esoteric knowledge and Asian religions was always at my fingertips for discovering something new. Nothing was strange to mom, everything was something to be discovered, and it was this insatiable hunger for knowledge coupled with an unending curiosity that slowly developed inside my own psyche. I owe so much to her, my life would not be what it is today without her gentle loving presence.
After many years of self discovery, traveling to distant countries, including two years in India co-building and co-running a yoga training school in Rishikesh, I am back home in Canada. I chose the name Sue Shanti Yoga as a nod to the way my first name (Susan) is pronounced by Indians in India as well as a gentle reminder to remain peaceful in all actions. Shanti in Sanskrit means peace.
My hope is to give these moments of peace in my classes which are free from judgement, a place to explore and a place to grow, however that looks to you. We are all walking each other home, so why not make the journey a pleasant one.
