Nancy Regan
Author of From Showing Off to Showing Up; An Impostor's Journey From Perfect to Present
As my audiobook makes it way into the world (...finally! Talk about a slow birth process!š) I am ever more grateful for the many conversations I've had with podcasters and radio hosts across North America. But this one holds a special place in my heart, because the host, Anne BĆ©rubĆ© inhabits a part of my heart (and a good chunk of my book too!). You can tell by the nature of the conversation (particularly the humour AND the vulnerability) that we have a cherished friendship.
One of the things we talk about is overcoming perfectionism, and throughout this book journey, there have been many divine signs to remind me of something I stressed in the book - that it's an ongoing PRACTICE. The audiobook is ready for you on KOBO (link in comments), and it's also posted on Audible...but here's the catch. There's a glitch in the way it was uploaded to Audible, so if you choose to listen to it now (rather than a week from now) you'll discover you have to fast-forward through the accessible cover-read off the top. LOL.

ps. This was recorded a while ago...so the info at the end about the book's availability is outdated. You can find "From Showing Off to Showing Up" at local bookstores or online in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia.
pps. Be sure to look for Anne's books; her most recent, the magnificent Burnout Antidote - and her first, Be Feel Think Do.
Thanks for listening ! š¤

šæ Hello Beautiful Souls! šæ
Last fall, I had the profound joy of welcoming the incredibly authentic and inspiring Nancy Regan to the Embodied podcast. For those of you who have yet to meet Nancy, she's a presentation coach, professional communicator, author, and a beacon of light in the realm of self-acceptance and presence.
š About Nancyās Book š
Nancy's first book, "From Showing Off to Showing Up: An Impostor's Journey from Perfect to Presence," is a divine mix of memoir and self-help, and itās a heartfelt call to authenticity. This book invites you to embrace every fragment of your being, encouraging self-acceptance and intimacy with oneself, echoing Nancyās soulful dance with acceptance.
š¬ Our Heartfelt Conversation š¬
Our interaction on the podcast was more than just a formal exchange; it was filled with laughter and genuine connection. For those familiar with our friendship, you know how deeply Nancy has impacted my life and refined my public speaking skills, enriching my journey with her passion for storytelling and her remarkable background.
š Journey of Acceptance š
Our conversation ventured into the depths of self-judgment and the beauty of embracing self-acceptance. Nancy's book acts as a mirror, showing the possibility of being kind, accepting, and free to feel. It shares the message that itās possible to embrace our entire selves and to be more loving and accepting, especially towards the parts we often hide.
āļø A Creative Struggle āļø
We delved into the challenges of writing and the whispers of the inner critic, sharing anecdotes about our personal battles with our inner impostors and the resilience it takes to continue the creative process amidst self-doubt and criticism.
šŗ Concluding Thoughts šŗ
Nancy's book is more than a read; it's an empowering experience, a reminder of the transformative power of kindness, acceptance, and emotional intimacy with oneself.
For those on a journey to live a life of presence over perfection and to delve deeper into self-acceptance and love, Nancy's "From Showing Off to Showing Up" is your guiding beacon of light.
š§ Listen In! š§

Hey Facebook Friends, I need your advice.
A dear friend is currently going through rigorous treatment for Stage 3 Breast Cancer. She is single, has no source of income while off work, and is struggling.
She's truly one of the most giving, compassionate, hard working people I've ever encountered in my life...and I feel the NEED to help her right now!
Is GoFundMe the best option? Are there other alternatives I should consider? (and if so, why?)
Pros & Cons would be helpful.

Thanks so much in advance for sharing your knowledge and experience with me! XO
At Christmas, time deepens. The Celtic imagination knew that time is eternity in disguise. They embraced the day as a sacred space. Christmas reminds us to glory in the simplicity and wonder of one day; it unveils the extraordinary that our hurried lives conceal and neglect.
We have been given such immense possibilities. We desperately need to make clearances in our entangled lives to let our souls breathe. We must take care of ourselves and especially of our suffering brothers and sisters.

What an honour to have my friend Jasyn Lucas as a guest on the Canadian Love Map podcast. This gifted artist and musician has an important story to tell.
Jasyn talks movingly about being a survivor of the Sixtiesā Scoop, and how his adoptive mother played a huge role in helping him find his Indigenous birth family. His journey to reconnect with his full identity informs his paintings, and his deep love of the Northern Lights illuminates the darkness for others. āØ

āItās been scientifically proven that when readers engage with fiction, itās as a participant. They emerge more empathetic.ā - These words on Monday evening from Whitney Moran, the Managing Editor of Nimbus Publishing and Vagrant Press. Love this beautiful photograph of the great Nancy Regan side stage at last weekās tour show at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax. Itās hard to believe that Audrey J. Parker left us five years ago.
This conversation in the Soul Booth was a gift we gave each other. Itās full of heart and humour - and life & death - and I thought I should share it on this anniversary of her departure.

Thatās a lyric from Bruce Guthroās song Walk This Road, and it really landed for me as I was driving along the road on my way home from Cape Breton this morningā¦with a BG playlist turned up loud. ā¤
It was raining, but it took me back to the magical glow of the Celtic Colours concert I got to host last night in Inverness.
I donāt have onstage shots or video of the performers (ācause none were allowed) but I do have this snippet of the backstage warmup before the show. (and I couldāve gone home happy after just that!)
I will report that during the actual performance, the phenomenally talented Mary Frances Leahey practically lit the venue on fire with her fiddle - and her feet - while Natalie MacMaster shone in the role of Stage-Mom.
In fact, the only time Natalie joined me on stage was to quickly hand me her cell phone so I could do an impromptu long-distance interview with the winner of the big draw (who had already returned to Alberta) š Talk about resourceful! Sitting in the crowd, Natalie heard me call out the name and phone number from the ticket a couple of times (while we waited for a winner to present themselves) so she took it upon herself to dial him. š¤
The other act of the night was 6 Hearts - an astounding amalgam of the powerhouse bands, The East Pointers and Vishten - formed after both groups suffered tragic losses. As their bio says, āfour hearts converging in mesmerizing contemporary traditional music, strengthened by the two hearts that remain with them in spirit.ā They were utterly enchanting. āØ
Next year, do yourself a favour and seriously consider making your way to Cape Breton for the Celtic Colours International Festival andā¦open up your soul and let the love shine in.

Thanks so much to Kathryn Taylor Media for this rich conversation. ā¤
Too often in this world, we honour accomplishment and neglect to celebrate humanity. I had the privilege this evening to attend an event at which both were on full display.
Donna Morrissey was interviewed by her friend (& mine) Mary Lynk for an episode of Ideas on CBC Radio. They were talking about Donna's exciting new novel "Rage the Night" - a riveting work of fiction based on an historic Newfoundland tragedy.
Donna started the evening by Showing UP fully, sharing with the audience the brutal decision she'd had to make about whether to go ahead with the evening. You see, Donna's husband Rick died just three weeks ago, and she had to choose whether to honour her role as "newly minted widow" or embrace the opportunity to mark the launch of her latest passion project. She did both - magnificently.
At one point, Donna described some characters in her book as "strong, fierce, honourable, and true". All those adjectives describe her as well.
Thanks Mary, for holding space so powerfully for a truly rich conversation, and thank you Donna for the gift of your pure presence and grace. ā¤
